4e/WotC: Pro- or Anti- why do you care?

Can you count, suckers? I say the future of the hobby is ours...if you can count! Look what we have here before us. We've got AD&D players sitting next to the PATHFINDER fans. We've got the original D&D crowd, right by the OSRIC folks...

    The Pinnacle of your Collection

All you need to know about SPAWN OF FASHAN is what's noted in MURPHY'S RULES by SJG.* My answer(s): firstly my autographed copy of B2 KEEP ON THE BORDERLANDS. Likewise my DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE (also autographed) and what else...oh, Gary signed my 3 original D&D booklets, as did Dave Arneson...

    Must a campaign world change?

I should point out that regardless, I despise "living" campaigns. "Well, Bob in Seattle's group offed Iuz and took out the Ghost Tower of Inverness, be sure to update your campaign notes..." Bleah.

    Must a campaign world change?

As an interested observer with no dog in the fight, I was skimming the "What don't you like about FR" thread (I never had a want for THE FORGOTTEN REALMS; WORLD OF GREYHAWK will probably occupy my gaming time until I take the Big Nap), and I was reading about the metaplot, and I started thinking...

    Penny Arcade completes the cycle

Get me a .WAV file of Ron Pearlman saying that, STAT.

Mean old Grognard, spoiling everyone's fun.

    The 1e Tournement

Actually, there's a very easy way to adjudicate a tournament 1e game equally, through using point values. You can do it in the broad sense: "50 points for every surviving character, each character gets 1 point for every remaining hit point, each defeated monster of up to 2 hd = 2 points, 3hd =...

RPG Documentaries: The Dungeon Masters, etc..

THE DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS EXPERIENCE is to my tastes the best of the lot; if nothing else you get a feel for where various folks' approaches come from. Yes, its focus seems (superficially) to be on AD&D, but watching the discussions with Stefan Porkony and hearing about how his mindset about...

    D&D 4E Hints on Sandboxing with 4e?

Indeed; I'm really not sure why this was moved. There's 3.5, AD&D and other games talk rife in the thread. And it's staying civil.

Hackmaster won an ORIGINS award in 2001

I'm sorry, morrus. Big fan of mr. Baugh's work?

Hackmaster won an ORIGINS award in 2001

No, he did not. Unless his point was "wah, the hoi-palloi don't know what's good for them, how dare they still like an AD&D pastiche", which is what it appears that it was. And that's a stupid, ignorant and petulant point which is easily dismissed.

    D&D 4E Hints on Sandboxing with 4e?

AD&D does not rely on "multiple balanced encounters per day". In AD&D, a low-level group that walks up to a cavern entrance with suspiciously reptilian footprints leading to it that are bigger than the halfling in the group, with heaps of charred bones and bits of melted armor may realize...

Hackmaster won an ORIGINS award in 2001

And thus Bruce Baugh assured that I would never purchase anything written by him, published by a company he works for, edited by him, or otherwise associated with him.

Ah, found him. It was Bruce Baugh.

    D&D 4E Hints on Sandboxing with 4e?

I find that AD&D tolerates a great deal of "fiddling with" and this, among other reasons, I list elsewhere is why I recommend it. (I should also point out that you can do with Original D&D what you can do with AD&D with the same degree of ease, more or less.)

Hackmaster won an ORIGINS award in 2001

...and some guy, bigwig in RPG design, completely lost his :):):):) over that. Does anyone recall who that was? It came up in another thread on another board and I cannot for the life of me recall who that was.

    The 1e Tournement

Well of course my first question is: will you publish your adventure? Or did you run a classic module? Next question: do you remember by name any of the participants? Two beloved friends of mine were attending and they raved about the old-school vibe at the 'con. She did TOWER OF GYGAX, he...

    The 1e Tournement

Hey maybe in this thread we could have less slagging of AD&D by Bullgrit and more talk about the tourney.

    No, Hirst Arts. Just...no.

GAMES WORKSHOP has their "Bridge at Khazad Dum" model in the "How to paint LORD OF THE RINGS" book, and it's 2x4s with Great Stuff expanding gap-filler foam sprayed on it in layers and allowed to drip down as it dries. Brilliant!
