D&D General Take A Look At The Class Boards From The New D&D Starter Set

Looks great. No problem with ditching the ability scores. I'm used to that with Fantasy AGE. There is an opportunity here to keep publishing expansion boxes for higher levels and new adventures. There is a market for that and it's not the same as people who buy 1000 pages to play D&D. So...

[General Discussion Q&A] Shadow of the Weird Wizard [+]

As you might know, GURPS, Fantasy AGE and many other RPGs only use d6s. It does take getting used to but the incremental average damage output is better with 1d6 (4), 2d6 (7) and 3d6 (11) when compared to 1d6 (4), 1d8 (5) and 1d10 (6), for example. When you add possible Boon dice and weapon...

What are you reading in 2025?

Loved the first half of book one. I'm stuck at the beginning of the fairy section. Should resume reading in September.

Where Do You Get Your Digital (RPG) Books and Materials?

DTRPG, Itch.io and with the Brick & Mortar program when I buy a book from a local store.

There's A New Edition Of The Cypher System Coming

Fair, I know I'm not eventually buying Dragonbane 2e or Fantasy AGE 3e when they inevitably come out.

There's A New Edition Of The Cypher System Coming

I didn't realize Numenara 2e was eight years ago, and Cypher 2e was already six years ago. Didn't seem that long ago when I bought both last Winter. Time really does get faster when you grow older. Soon, I'll be barely able to get out of bed before the day is over! :ROFLMAO: I understand you...

[General Discussion Q&A] Shadow of the Weird Wizard [+]

Build-a-Class is clever. My players like it with SotDL but the campaign ended because of a very disruptive player. He is long gone now. Next time I'm on the GM seat, I want to run SotWW.

Indeed, four stats is perfect - and it works with the four achetypes. I've seen 3 stats often but I find it one too few. I like two physical (Dex. Str) and two mental (Int. Wis) stats.

[General Discussion Q&A] Shadow of the Weird Wizard [+]

As a soloist, I really enjoy the Distinctive Features tables and Personality tables. I can create an interesting NPC quickly without breaking the immersion too much.

Shadow of the Weird Wizard Is Finally Here!

Switching might not be the right approach. Have you tried a two hour one-shot with them to showcase the system? It's how I convinced D&D players to at least try another system in the past.

Shadow of the Weird Wizard Is Finally Here!

Could be, but not all RPG I try to order from DTRPG has that deal. Which is weird, and led me to believe they have a printing hub in the Greater Toronto Region.

Shadow of the Weird Wizard Is Finally Here!

Ordered from Canada. For me in Montreal, it is printed in the Toronto region. No POTUS US tariffs or Duty on them. Just regular Purolator rates.

Shadow of the Weird Wizard Is Finally Here!

Couldn't resist, ordered the 2 core in hardcover and Weird Ancestries in softcover! :geek:

Just noticed the 2 core books are now available in POD on DTRPG! Woot!

Which 80s wargames and adventure games do you still play?

Mayday! by GDW with vectorial movement space fights, was my second purchase. I did like it's but it a bit more complicated to play. Does anyone still play it? I seem to remember it was an add-on to the Traveler RPG, correct? https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/4317/mayday

Which 80s wargames and adventure games do you still play?

Read about it, never played it. Intriguing. Love the hex tile concept. The rules have been somewhat revised by fans. You can find the PDF in the files section of the game on BoardGameGeek.

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

Indeed. My group wanted to play L5R. I agreed but after one session I felt constrained by the samurai code, what you can and cannot do, who you can speak to, etc. It's not something I enjoyed. I left amicably until the end of the mini-campaign.
