Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

And the price goes up once the commission is met.... So it pays to get in just under the wire.

Third Party: If So, Then What?

Open Design is producing some award-winning 4th Edition materials and adventures (Halls of the Mountain King, Wrath of the River King, Courts of the Shadow Fey). Yet the Pathfinder versions of adventures are consistently outselling the 4E versions. I suspect that the 3pp support will continue...

Do you Cthulhu? Patronage project...open design.

I'm right there with you. In fact, the Viking worm Jormungand seems perfect as an Old One.

Do you Cthulhu? Patronage project...open design.

About 50, of which a goodly proportion are lurkers, as Aberzanzorax pointed out. It's also not quite enough to go ahead with the project as originally outlined, but we've got a couple weeks yet to find support. If it doesn't happen, you get a full refund, of course.

Do you Cthulhu? Patronage project...open design.

Sure, but the Cthulhu ruleset is already ahead. Having another Cthulhu fan sign up improves the odds that it will stay ahead, and actually be commissioned. Call me selflish, but I'm really hoping that a Cthulhu BRP project can work, because I'd like to write one myself someday.

Do you Cthulhu? Patronage project...open design.

No, you can sign up after the 23rd (when the system will be locked); system will be final and announcement on the 24th. However, I'd encourage you to sign up earlier for two reasons: 1) The project needs support; Cthulhu has always been a niche taste, so Open Design is sort of going out on a...

Do you Cthulhu? Patronage project...open design.

I agree that it's completely awesome. It needs a few more supporters, but I think it's one of the most exciting Cthulhoid adventures I've seen in years. I sooooo want to play a Viking investigator, and a Samurai, and basically have 5 tickets to glory/insanity instead of one. Definitely worth...

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

I'm still boggled that 4E has not found enough patrons. I expect that to change when the 4th Edition Halls of the Mountain King ships, but even so...

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

Azathoth Calling I don't know why I want this to be a Call of Cthulhu BRP rules adventure, but I really do. Maybe because 4E and Pathfinder already have projects underway at Open Design. If you are a BRP fan or a Cthulhu fan in general, give this project a look. I think you'll find it worth...

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

Well, this is the third 4E project from Open Design, and third time is the charm! Honestly, it does take time to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of any new system. I think I've got a much better handle on 4E D&D now than I did when I wrote Wrath. Step 1 is still getting it...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo wants its monsters back!

Someone really should stat up the Oliphaunt of Jandelay. :D:D:D

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

Unless a project can go forward without a cover, with less pages of text, or without an editor or maps, the usual requirement is 100%. So, yes, Red Eye is a little slower off the blocks than the other two. But I think it still has a good chance of making it to fully commissioned. Guess we'll see.

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

You'll have the chance to pick it up later, certainly. But to make it more tempting, we've added a print version and a PDF sourcebook to the project as well. The sourcebook is called Sunken Empires, and will cover ancient tech, lost ruins, and monsters appropriate for sunken kingdoms. We're...

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

I think the NPC classes take is a pretty elegant solution to the design problem of matching Cthulhu fragility/incompetence of investigators with the Pathfinder standard of super-competent PCs. But I'm still holding out hope for the CoC BRP rules. Go Old School on this!

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

We're about 50% of the way to commissioning the Pathfinder/Azlant project, about 48% there with the 4E project, and the Pathfinder/Cthulhu project is trailing at about 24%. Which just means that the Cthulhu project may start a little later than the other two.

Bringing Back the Odd, Strange, the Weird, and the Funny

Nilbogs? No, wait, scratch that. Vegepygmies. I'd like to see some vegepygmies. EDIT: And the carbuncle! Bring back the weird FF stuff.

It won the ENnie for Best Electronic Book, so it's a PDF.

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

Early voting is underway, and I refuse to guess how it will turn out. The relatively small number of early patrons means every vote does have quite an impact.

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

If we get started on Horror on the Orient Express stories, we'll be here all night. There's a poll going up for patrons of the "Red Eye of Azathoth" right now that will settle the game system issue. Personally, I think going with Chaosium's rules is the better choice, but it's up to the...

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

There's a small chance Red Eye would be written for another system. It really depends on what the patrons want. Personally, I'd like to see it using the Chaosium Basic Roleplaying system, but that's just habit on my part.
