Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

Worth pointing out that, the Pathfinder project is still outpacing the 4E one (36% to 30%). That can change, of course, but after all the discussion of sales for various rules sets, that seems like an interesting data point.

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

Until the following scene occurs over at the Open Design boards, I think we're pretty safe. <prima donna>I asked for this flumph steak to be sliced extra-fine, and this is what comes back!? This is your best work?! And this whale oil is rancid: get it out of my sight! I'm surrounded by...

First Open Design Project available for public consumption

There's a review of it over at Christina Stiles' blog. She's a Goodman Games author of some note, not to mention her contributions to Dungeon Adventures and Green Ronin. I'm happy to see her give this one a big vote of confidence.

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

I don't think it's a coincidence; it's a great painting and perfect for the subject matter. Rather a deliberate choice by the designer, I suspect. The final project will, of course, have original cover art, but I think a great painting gives people a sense of the tone and direction for a...

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

We aim to please. I'll be asking the senior patrons for topics soon as well. I expect to write at least 1/month. Now we just need a few more patrons to support 4E D&D Open Design.

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

My secret wish is that all three projects get commissioned, and Joshua, Brandon and I all strive to outdo each other in design awesomeness. I picture us in the hats from Iron Chef while patrons shout out monster names as ingredients. :D

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

I sort of have a stack of essays I want to do for Court of the Shadow Fey, about planar adventure design, about evil in RPGs, about roleplaying scenes in 4E, and a couple other topics. So yes, we still talk shop.

Wolfgang Baur's Open Design new games!

Yeah, I was fairly surprised that the Fey one did as well as it did, but most of the patron proposals were for Pathfinder. There was only one other 4E pitch, and it didn't do as well as the Shadow Fey. Frankly, I think of it as a planar 4E adventure rather than a fey adventure, but YMMV.

First Open Design Project available for public consumption

I'm not going to review a book I contributed an adventure to (surprise! I like it!), but I can say that there's likely to be a review appearing in the next week or two. Or so I'm told.

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

Yeah, I just wasn't in the mood to pitch Angels of Our Better Nature. I'm not sure why, but it will get another chance at a commission in future. Red Eye of Azathoth is hardly "modern". It covers the Dark Ages, Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation, and THEN it hits the Wild West. I'm...

First Open Design Project available for public consumption

Because the patrons of the limited edition threatened to skin me alive if I didn't charge for it? Seriously, it would have been a serious breach of faith to give it away. The anthology is definitely worth the money.

Pathfinder 1E Azlant Adventure, and Using Pathfinder with Mythos

Two new Pathfinder adventures are underway at Open Design, and you can help shape them. The projects are The Red Eye of Azathoth (Cthulhu comet cult adventure using Pathfinder RPG in historical times), and From the Shore to the Sea (Pathfinder Azlant adventure). More details over at the...

First Open Design Project available for public consumption

Thanks! It seemed like time to share the best of Open Design with the wider Pathfinder/OGL world. And the next Open Design project may explore the PF ruleset as well. I hope to have an announcement on that soon.

Congrats, Shroomy! It's got a great title, and I look forward to reading it.

The Critical Hits Review was just one of many. There's a round up of reviews to date as well.

Hm, what makes you say that, Wicht? ;)

    Kobold Quarterly #10

The halflings have a 4E version, the Nevermet Press guys designed three plug-and-play skill challenges, the Warlock article is very 4E compatible. There's articles on halberds, generating PCs without backgrounds, and the gelatinous cubes that work for any system. The interview with Jeff Grubb...

Adventure Module Pricing and Patronage Projects

It is, in fact, still available for purchase. The discussion of 4E elements is in playtest and review; we'll be going into editing mode soon.

Adventure Module Pricing and Patronage Projects

The adventure was designed by the patrons, to match the elements they wanted; I was the developer on it, and Mike McArtor was the editor. We're re-designing the 4E version now, rather than trying to convert it closely. Many encounters feature completely different monsters; others feature more...

Adventure Module Pricing and Patronage Projects

You are a fortunate man, indeed. To clarify one point, though: Halls of the Mountain King is a 4E project at this point. We're doing a 4E gazetteer for dwarves and a 175-page adventure. However, odds are good that the *next* project won't be exclusive at all. People who want to discuss, pitch...
