Adventure Module Pricing and Patronage Projects

FranktheDM and Dice4Hire nail it. Patron projects are inevitably for people who enjoy the design process, the behind-the-scenes discussion, and playtest as much as the final product. The price could probably be set higher. There's no way to offer 6 months of discussion for the same price as a...

    Goodman Games 3.5 Revival

Open Design's 4E Halls of the Mountain King will also be available in a limited print edition, like prior adventures. And the Iron Gazetteer for 4E will be available in a normal print edition. EDIT TO ADD: Though that's not an adventure, of course.

The ENnies are coming! The ENnies are coming!

Maybe next year, the Electronic category could be split up a bit? I can see a case for Best Electronic Adventure, Best Electronic Sourcebook, etc.

    Kobold Ecologies

Kestrel, as the author of those derro, all I can say is thank you! I've loved the little big-headed monsters for a very long time, probably since Dungeon 20 or so. They also make an appearance in Halls of the Mountain King, where they get new toys to play with.

Which RPGs are you currently playing?

Call of Cthulhu, mostly, plus 4E and Pathfinder. Oddly enough, I always seem to run one and play the other.

    Kobold Ecologies

"Sanity", quoth the man with a Cthulhu fetish. ::groan:: I do love the way that the Ecology of the Phantom Fungus reinvents a deeply silly monster as a much more interesting, Cthulhoid/Far Realms beast.

    Kobold Ecologies

No no, obviously the derro is the best, it's on the cover! Or possibly the centaur and maenad, since they are 4E. Hm, so many choices. I'm curious to hear what monsters people would like to see in Volume 2. Anyone?

    Stalker0's Guide to Anti-Grind

Great article, thanks! Have you considered writing for a magazine?

    Kobold Quarterly and 4e

I think you might be seeing the outlines of an editorial mind at work. :D Seriously, we do strive to make the articles useful to any D&D gamer, and even to people playing other fantasy systems. Some articles are pretty much driven by mechanics, but not all of them.

    Kobold Quarterly and 4e

Seems fair to me. If you go by articles, the magazine is currently about 25% 4E. That doesn't count the system-neutral articles. That number might go up or down, depending on letters from subscribers, on what submissions we receive, and so on.

    Kobold Quarterly and 4e

Threadjacking a little, no matter which edition you prefer, KQ is currently offering free sets of Q-Workshop dice to all new subscribers. Which does make it a good time to subscribe.

    Kobold Quarterly and 4e

KQ was founded to support all editions, and I'd be happy to see more submissions. As you suggest, we do keep the writer's guidelines on the site; would love to see a few more queries for next issue, which is the oversize Summer issue. It will definitely appear in issue #10.
  13. Monkey King

    Kobold Quarterly and 4e

I love the 4E dearly, but KQ can only print what we get from contributors. To kick off the 4E coverage, I did write the "Ecology of the Centaur" for issue #7, but having editors write the magazine doesn't work over the long haul. So far, there's been a demand for 4E content, but not a lot of...

    I’m not dead yet…..sticking with 3.5

I moderated the panel, and we talked about 3.5 projects like Halls of the Mountain King, a LOT of discussion on the details of Pathfinder compatibility (upshot, it's much more 3.5 compatible than AE), and a little on True20 and current Pathfinder adventure path material like Legacy of Fire. No...

Any good 4e adventures that arent dungeon crawls?

Limited edition, yes, but Wrath of the River King is available to members of the Halls of the Mountain King 4E project. Just sayin'.
  16. Monkey King

Wait, what? PC is writing a Dungeon adventure?

Congrats, PC! I can't wait to see what you do with the githyanki.

Okay. I officially miss paper versions

It hasn't come up. But yes, KQ does intend to support True20, OSRIC, etc if there's interest from writers and fans. The Kobold Quarterly writer's guidelines are available. /threadjack

Okay. I officially miss paper versions

Well, that may be because there was no 4E game available when KQ launched... :D I'm not sure why we don't see that many 4E submissions right now, but there's certainly going to be free material for 4E on the KQ.com site. Negflar, the PDF/print distinction is not an either/or. KQ and the Paizo...

Okay. I officially miss paper versions

We'll run more 4E content when people ask for it. So far, the Letters page and the submissions both show a preference for 3E. When more people ask for 4E and we get more 4E submissions, we'll certainly provide it. Until then, gotta go with the will of the majority.

    Forgotten Realms article on Wikipedia

Those are some fine reading. If you don't mind me nominating topics, I'd say Dave Arneson, Planescape, Greyhawk and possibly Tomb of Horrors or Isle of Dread might repay further refinements. And yes, I'm delighted to just *have* an entry. If it happens that some Wikipedians update it a bit, I...
