How many classes do you prefer in a RPG?

I voted 0, because I like classless systems (like Savage Worlds) better. But for class based systems, I prefer 4. The three classic (Fighter, Thief, Spellcaster), plus a "normal" class for non-adventurers (merchants, nobles, farmers, etc).

The Best & Worst of 3rd Edition: Ultimate 3E: Unearthed Arcana, Eberron, Pathfinder

I don't really find it surprising. The product itself is top notch. I mean, really really good. (I'm going to run it - in another game system, its that good.) But also I think Paizo the company has won fans beyond their products, similar to Saturn (the car company). That is, it helps that they...

    FLGS in San Antonio, TX

I believe there is a Dragon's Lair in San Antonio. I can't actually vouch for that particular location, but I frequent the Dragon's Lair in Austin, and if they run the store there like they run the stores up here then it should be a quality environment (neat, clean, well stocked, and staffed...

    Map tiles

I dunno how much cardstock terrain you've put together, but I can tell you from experience that the time to create the terrain drops dramatically after you've put together a few models, especially as you get better and cutting and scoring. (For the most part, I'm so much faster now with a...

Fat Dragon Games - E-Z Dungeons Basic Set: Review

I love cardstock terrain. :) Inexpensive, good looking terrain that is light to carry and fun to put together. I haven't put together any of Tom's (Fat Dragon's) cardstock terrain sets yet - just the tiles - but I have put together some of his space stuff. He's got an awesome cardstock fighter...

BECMI vs Rules Cyclopedia vs Castles & Crusades

I'll start by saying I don't think you can make a wrong choice here. Its nice when you start with that premise. :) That said, I'd go the C&C route, for two reasons. First, your players, if they so desire, can get their hands on nice, new shiny versions of the Player's Handbook from their local...

    Is 3x D&D a rules-heavy system? Is that a good/bad thing?

I actually meant specific to this poll (although I did not state that clearly), but thank you. :)

    Is 3x D&D a rules-heavy system? Is that a good/bad thing?

I voted for rules-heavy, and I don't like it that way. We stopped playing it years ago in favor of other (lighter) systems. I liked a previous poster's system of dividing into rules coverage and rules complexity. Trick is, I think you can have high rules coverage without high rules complexity...

    Map tiles

If you want to see a great selection from all kinds of companies, including Skeleton Key, Fat Dragon and others (WWG and 0one come to mind as well), go to enworld.rpgnow.com, and search in the RPG Accessories | 2D Buildings/Terrain product type. You'll see tons of options. Here is the full link...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Advantage

Nice. I bought Rise of the Runelords from an online seller, but recently signed up for both a Pathfinder subscription and a Pathfinder Chronicles subscription. Looks like it was good timing. :)

Which is your favorite Adventure Path?

I assume you're talking d20. Of those, I've read through most of the Paizo ones, and Pathfinder is definitely a cut above. For non-d20, check out Savage Worlds 50 Fathoms. Its a plot-point book (slightly different than an Adventure Path in that its much less scripted, but still provides an...

    Have you pre-ordered?

I haven't decided. If I do buy them, it will mainly be to rip off ideas for other games I run, or to play in someone else's game.

    My First Savage Worlds Game

Heh. I just bought 5 copies (at $7.50 each from Art's), plus 10 copies of the Pathfinder Player Guide (Rise of the Runelords) for less than $2 each. So for less than $10 a player, they've got a rulebook and a Player's Guide. Gotta love it. :) Flynn - we might have an open seat for Pathfinder...

    poster map printing/copying... suggestions?

You might check a teacher supply store. They usually have services comparable to Kinkos and other large chains, but at a lower cost and typically slightly lower quality; obviously they cater more to eductors with lower budgets rather than business folks with higher ones. However, they're often...

    My First Savage Worlds Game

Isn't the chance for failure for a Wild Card with a d12 in the skill against a standard TN 12.5%, or 9 (3x3) / 72 (6 *12)? Thats a 1 in 8 chance, which is a fair amount better than 1 in 5. If you factor spending a Benny in for a reroll, then your chance of failure drops tremendously (to 1 in 64...

Looking for a good arms/equipment source

How are the economics in Kenzerco book? Do the prices make sense in relation to each other?

Looking for a good arms/equipment source

Cool, I'll take a look at each. Any more suggestions?

Looking for a good arms/equipment source

I'm about to start up a new campaign (Paizo's Pathfinder, using Savage Worlds), and I'm looking for a good book of arms, items and equipment with a currency system and relative values that makes sense and are fairly internally consistent. (Most equipment books I've read are kind of wonky when it...

    Getting feedback from players

I usually try to get feedback via email, and I'll occasionally give the player that *I know* is going to give me feedback a heads up, so he can get his comments ready immediately. I've found that when someone starts the comments - and I respond back thoughtfully and not defensively - it loosens...

Tell me about Necropolis (Savage Worlds setting)

The first few real fights in SW can be tricky, but ultimately I find combat in SW to be quick and easy (much quicker than most other systems with comparable detail). We did a battle with 6 PCs and some 30 goblins, goblin spellcasters and dwarf allies, and resolved it in 30-40 minutes or so - in...
