What Is Your Adventuring Groups Name?

In the Evernight game I ran that we wrapped up a few months ago (after two years), the group was called the Lightbringers. Oh, and we call our game group the "Moose Group", for the name of the yahoo group we created for communication and file sharing and such. :)

Theories regaurding the change in rules of D&D.

Not to cause edition problems or flame anyone else's opinion, but this is exactly one of the things I serious dislike about 3es requirement of having a consistent set of rules for everyone (PCs and NPCs). As a DM, I just want to create NPCs the way I want them; with a few exceptions, I don't...

    Primitive and Advanced Barbarian Tribes

If you haven't already, you should read the old Dragon Magazine article about Barbarians, by Katherine Kerr, IIRC.

    D&D 4E In terms of theme, tone, and spirit, I hope 4e . . .

Great art, indeed. Every time I see this image, I think of the Kurgan. "Father, forgive me. I am a worm..." Surprising people feel it so necessary to be so hostile and nasty about something as silly as art in a gaming book. Personally, I love the 1e feel far more than the 3e feel, but it had...

Is precision in player dungeon mapping even necessary anymore?

As a DM, I rarely if ever have my players do a map. The characters, maybe, but not the players. If something special called for it as part of a unique scenario or something focusing on the players needing to map (a maze, for example - which is rare in my games), I'd do it just for the novelty...

    Pimp your setting

I'm a big fan of the Wilderlands (I have the Necro boxed set, the PG, plus some of the others JG supplements). Gritty, sparse, imaginative, and based on small city-states rather larger nations, with huge swathes of unexplored, untamed land. Slavers, pirates, amazons, dark necromancers, deserts...

Vanilla Essence: 1E Demographics and the Implied Setting

Agreed. I cut and paste the thing into a word doc and saved it in my archive of gaming materials. I'm going to use that distribution (possibly with the 70% modification suggested by Delta) in my Wilderlands campaign. Thanks for posting that.

I need an Elf Rapier Mini!

This is the one I thought of, immediately. Bunches on ebay.

Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

Heh. Polar opposite to many it seems, the only things that interests me from WotC are minis related - DDM minis, Dungeon Tiles and Fantastic Locations, although the latter not-so-much. I don't get to skirmish much anymore, but I use the minis extensively in my RPG sessions (which are Savage...

    Storage for Individual Minis

Target used to carry them, but stopped a year and a half ago or so. (I bought them in spurts, about 10 at a time. When I first started buying them from my local target, the price went from $4.99 to $5.99 after I'd bought about 20. :) ) Hobby Lobby carries them now, and the local ones usually...

    Storage for Individual Minis

For storing them at home, I store them in Acro Mils Large Storage Bins, shown in attached pic (don't be fooled by the "Large" title - they're only about 14" x 10" x 2"). If I'm taking a whole bunch somewhere, I'll leave them in their bin and take appropriate bins with me. (I have thousands of...

    Skill Based System for Fantasy

My first instinct is to say Savage Worlds. Thats cause its THAT good, and THAT flexible. But, if you're actually playing AD&D, then you might want to look at C&C's SIEGE engine, and the skills listed in Castle Zagyg (done by Gary Gygax himself). That might be more up your alley.

Didn't they do that already? Isn't that where the color scheme came from?

Looking for a New Setting to Conquer

Take a look at the Wilderlands. LOTS of area to take over there, and a few solid BBEG to work for.

    Alternatives to Dungeon Tiles?

I dislike WotC in general, but I love the dungeon tiles (at least the indoor ones). I have two sets of each, and I'm considering a third of each just for additional flexibility. Personally, I don't like the Paizo tiles. They are really limited and don't mix/match well (one of the WotC tiles...

Hourly resets instead of daily resets [merged]

Resetting everything, every hour? Yow. I think its easier to do hourly resets with a point-based system, where you can recharge a certain number of points every hour - and there is a certain amount of incrementalism, so you're not necessarily reseting everything you've got each hour, but...
