I'm pretty sure that traditional D&D canon has adamantine being black, but I'd guess that any dull metal color would work. If you're doing it fast and easy, I'd paint it black, heavily drybrush any surface not in complete shadow with a dark grey, then drybrush again with a metallic steel color...

People have asked me why I don't paint and sculpt miniatures professionally (clearly people who have no idea what "good" actually is)... I tell them that, for the amount people would pay for them vs. the amount of time I put into them... I'd be making about $1.50 an hour. And earning...
