    Design & Development: The Warlock

"No evil alignments" is not, in fact, "just core". It is "just core, except 1/3 of the alignments, several gods, and a chunk of the spells". I'm afraid "Now I have to forbid more things!" isn't really much of a compelling and widely applicable argument. Vote with your wallet, by all means, but...

You know, I just wanna own up and say that I wasn't at my best in these recent exchanges. Sorry for making it a little worse.

Sure. Get off that computer and go mow the damn lawn! More to the point, your definition of pithy is stretched to breaking and as it turns out you're not going to be worth the effort expended to try and keep you from gleefully crapping your way into a ban. So um, get on with your bad self, I guess.

I was about to write a "not for me" response, explaining what druids needed (IMO) to fill their world-building niche...and I could see them giving those to a 'feral' warlock, making him awesome. So color me....neutral about druid inclusion ATM.

Well apparently somebody needs to come around to teach you how to act amongst adults. Why not go sit down, have a cup of coffee, get some corn flakes nobody pissed in, and try forum posting again? I can hear mod footsteps from here, man.

Wow. SERIOUSLY not helping here, man.

If I may? These concerns can easily seem odd, misplaced, or even shallow to those for whom the difference between imaginary murder & theft and imaginary apostasy appear to be, well, shallow and odd. Both are, in many ways of looking at, morality-neutral; some might even consider imaginary...

Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

Hmm. Not a bad read, if long-winded and kinda livejournal in places. I have a great love for the "writes how people talk" style, so I certainly didn't not enjoy it as a read. As an article ostensibly related to D&D, it really did feel like a D&D community LJ post. Lots of "me!", very little...

Oh, absolutely unhappy about the apparent lack of the druid. BIIIIIG contributor in my "would you be happier with a 3.5/IH/4e/AE d20 hack?" thoughts, in fact. I like druids.

Let's not forget one of the most iconic pieces of 1e art. A Paladin....IN HELL!!!!! *screeching power chord solo* Man, it's almost as if these things existed before Sisters of Mercy. But that couldn't be, right? I mean, then they'd be tapping into mythology and folklore and common cultural...

Does The New Edition Raise Your Houserulling Interest?

I assure you, it makes perfect sense. Now please, stand back, I'm a scientist!

Does The New Edition Raise Your Houserulling Interest?

I know there have been attempts at the former, and racial paragons at least give a starting point for the second, but fair enough. Gotcha. It really read like "I'm getting ready to change this, and this, and..." and it all kinda felt to me like deciding in 1999 one was going to adjust THAC0...

Does The New Edition Raise Your Houserulling Interest?

Such as? I would think house-ruling* a game you've never seen is an exercise in futility or poor design. * Changing fluff text isn't house rules, it's DMing.

Poll: Do you want Save-Or-Die in 4th Edition

Anyone who believes that opposition to their point of view stems from one of a small selection of personal failings is, inevitably, wrong.

Does The New Edition Raise Your Houserulling Interest?

I think that happened to a lot of people who had started, for lack of a better word, consolidating their 3.5 experience and desires into a single set of rules. And I wonder how many others, now that the first rush of anticipation has worn off, are getting antsy about it.

Most patrons in D&D games, IMXP, are human nobles, merchants, and wizards. Other than that, he is in fact describing a D&D campaign to the letter. One could say "mark and murder people for inhuman masters" describes the detect + smite of the paladin perfectly.

Does The New Edition Raise Your Houserulling Interest?

Yep, sounds like we had the same bug. I find myself wondering - and I know I've been rampantly enthusiastic - if 4e isn't going to be a very very good d20 game (which it sounds like it is) that will serve to roundly inspire my D&D rules. If only because I think that unnamed dread is "This is...
