    Changes to Devils and Demons

I think it's safe to say this edition is not aimed at people for whom the decades of fluff are a priority.

    Changes to Devils and Demons

I'm left with the opposite impression from the article; devils are called out as being generally humanoid, usually fighting with weapons, and often wearing armor. Which suggests to me, given the care with which releases are worded, that demons are typically non-humanoid, or at least monstrously...

D&D 4E Should Ability Scores in 4E Be Randomly Determined?

Speaking only for my own group, the stats we want are like art or pornography; we can't describe it, but we'll know it when we see it. It defines the actual numbers of a MAD PC, or the five extra stats on a wizard (:D), in ways we didn't expect when we set out to roll up a member of that class.

D&D 4E Should Ability Scores in 4E Be Randomly Determined?

I'll admit my first thought upon reading that example was "why don't they just trade the arrays", but that may be because we did just that when rolling up some PCs for RttToEE (to produce a Cloistered Cleric and a Paladin, but that's pretty close). And Iron Heroes won me over to the 1d4+x HD...

    Changes to Devils and Demons

Sign me up for some of this. I certainly hope these suspicions hold water; with reduced mechanical effects for alignment I hold out hope that "angels" can represent a type of being rather than carrying the weight of alignment by implication. Or supposing "good" and "evil" have a lot more to do...

D&D 4E Who / What will be the main gods of 4E?

I second the motion tabled by Blessed Kitten, along with its riders. What do you do with a blessed kitten, anyway? Get it to destroy your cursed boots?

    Changes to Devils and Demons

Well, I certainly will miss Planescape, but these tidbits sound pretty much perfect for the Points of Light implied setting. I really like where this is going. Except for real-world mythological deities. For whatever reason it remains the only non-starter in a campaign setting for me, but I...

    D&D 4E New ways 4e encourages rollplaying

This is my going-forward hope for 4e. All the mechanical fun of 3.x, but streamlined so I can plot it up behind the scenes. Man, I really thought this OP was a troll when I first saw it, thanks to the whole role/roll thing. Probably best I held off on my "Don't feed the troll" image until...

New tidbit about spells and hit points.

Arrooo? Are you thinking of a different thread, or maybe a different poster? I've really just been kind of a snippy lil' so-and-so this thread. But hey, thanks anyhow.

The default campaign world - new article

I guess that depends on how many greedy dragons, rapacious orcs, mischievous fey, ambitious bandits, and mad cultists live in that forest and stare at the glittering walls of Portland with malice in their eyes. Also on whether you have a decree from Ed Koch permitting you to enforce his laws in...

New tidbit about spells and hit points.

You'd be wrong, but I'd feel good about having phrased it politely. Is THAT what you're going on about with Scrabble and dumbing down and riskless adventuring and the rest of the wild gibberish you've been offering as fact in speculation threads? 'cause it seems like you want to stand on a...

New tidbit about spells and hit points.

Wow. Undeniable pride in middle school gaming antics and an edition wars troll of the most dedicated breed? You, Visceris, are clearly a king among men and the Pope of Roleplaying. Piratecat here. I missed this earlier. If you have a problem with another poster, please report the post instead...

IMPORTANT! Is your new Community Supporter Account not working?

Just got back on. Works just fine now. Many kudos, PC.

D&D 4E Should Ability Scores in 4E Be Randomly Determined?

I voted yes, but that's just because rolling up a new character is more interesting than balancing a new character's point costs. But ultimately, I don't really care; we'll do what we want at the table anyway.

    Muhahaha, Userfriendly has it nailed

Well, close. It is true, in the way that baseball can be boiled down to "hitting a ball with a stick and running around in a circle". More to the point, I think I've heard of D&D monsters referred to as "bags", "pinatas", and "containers" of "XP and loot" roughly once for every monster I've...

    Muhahaha, Userfriendly has it nailed

Yes, yes it is. Mind you, dysentery is better than ebola, so it's really all pretty relative.

    Target Demographic?

EDIT: Nevermind, mods got to it To put some substance on this post, I think it's geared to people who want to do with D&D what D&D has always done best; get you and your buddies together in a room with some snacks, drinks, and dice to pretend to be bad-ass fantasy heroes beating the sweet holy...

    "Kill the Sacred Cow!"

Not the kits. Scattered throughout the gods section were various philosophies and natural forces one could worship in place of a god; Evil, or the Life-Death-Rebirth Cycle, or Rulership for instance. I always got a lot of use out of them as weird, esoteric cults in the shadow of more...

Do you want Tieflings in the phb?

With the new philosophy of balancing races from level 1 on, I whole-heartedly concur with this opinion.

D&D 4E Some combat changes I want to see in 4e.

I can agree with 2, and 3 follows naturally from that; I have no interest in the game-within-a-game that is miniatures combat, and facing is part of it. No facing and six second rounds improved over the 1 minute, staring in the same direction the whole time rounds of earlier editions. It's not...
