House Rules: Using circular templates weaken classes?

Casters will lose area of effect, but i really don't know if it would weaken them too much, since casters rarely fill their burst until the last square with monsters. OBS: The burst are the circular lines. The colored line only indicate wich squares are affected by the burst. Don't forget that...

Simulationism vs. Gamism Deathmatch: There can be only one!

It's ok. The GNS Theory should always be discussed in humor threads.

    Clerics can't heal (NPCs)?

No. Monsters dying when they hit 0 is a pretty good rule, since that's what gonna happen anyway in 99% of the time a monster is dropped. Assigning a specific stat to monsters and then saying that rule should not be used in 99% of the situtations is pretty lame. About those games that claim they...

How Does "The Rules Aren't Physics" Fix Anything?

But who would put up such a scheme? The game designers? The Rouse? The Hasbro suits? I'm feeling so silly now, I really believed Mike Mearls was just trying to create a nice game. I'm a fan of his work you know, well at least I "was", now that I know what they are planning to do.

    Am I crazy...?

OMG it must be true! Those quasi-human japanese robots freak me out. I don't know why but they do. I think there is something about their eyes... an undescribable feeling of wrongness... something that should not be...in their eyes. And that movie, The Polar Express. All those Tom Hank's...

How Does "The Rules Aren't Physics" Fix Anything?

To make sales they need to make the game fun for as large a playerbase as they can. In june, when we actually have the books in our hands, when can judge that.

    Clerics can't heal (NPCs)?

I don't think it's an optional rule, it's an advice for the GM to not use the rules as presented, since the way the rules are presented, the game doesn't work well. The advice tells you that using the rules makes the game worse than when you don't use them, can you believe it? It's like WOTC...

    Clerics can't heal (NPCs)?

It seems the distinction between HERO and 4E is that the later has smarter game designers. Why waste space and effort and then say "see all these mechanics here, don't use them"?

It's your own interpretation of the rules. I don't remember reading in the previews that characters regenarate their wounds, they just regain their Hit Points. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

3E and 4E's natural healing are both incredibly unrealistic and both wander in the realm of absurd. 3E is a little more realistic than 4E, but it's more like if both were trying to climb a mountain with a ladder, 4E is on the second step and 3E a couple steps higher. If someone really wants...

    Clerics can't heal (NPCs)?

" Talking about monsters: Do you really want monsters to have Second Wind, or some similar ability? I'm sorry, but that would end up being bad game design IMO. Monsters are there to be killed, at least 99% of those who appear in the game. If monsters had Second Wind, one of the 2 situations...

He will be perfectly OK in 5 minutes ruleswise. As DM would you really tell the player that his wound just disappears after 5 minutes of resting? That makes no sense. Of course the wound is still there. In those five minutes the character caught some breath, tended to his wound, put some straps...

"Although stab wounds to the heart are generally imagined to be instantly incapacitating, numerous modern medical case histories indicate that while victims of such wounds may immediately collapse upon being wounded, rapid disability from this type of wound is by no means certain. Many...
