Tieflings should have a tail attack, or at least a racial feat that gives them a tail sweep. Maybe a tiefling weapon/armor with spikes that is attached to their tail. I wanna use that tail for something.

I think it will fall on the 3PP's decision. If some 3PP wants to release Spycraft under D&D GSL, it's up to them. But they will have to refer the rules to the D&D core book, so it might not be a good idea. I don't see why WOTC would oppose to that, they wanna sell books. Maybe some obvious...

The fact that you need all that changes means both creatures are very different from each other. The Balrog is actually a copy of Pikachu. Take Pikachu, paint him black, put some wings and horns, fire him up and you have the LOTR's balrog.

There is already a fighter/wizard type on the way, it's the Swordmage, the arcane defender. But you general idea makes sense, I can see WOTC coming this way. I mean, the idea of getting the concept of the most popular multiclass combinations and turn them into a whole new base class.
