D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I was kind of thinking of running it on Bloomburrow's rules: you are part of the designated list of races, even if you're from "outside". Elves get gnome'd, Orc's get goblin'd, Humans get halfling'd, Mind Flayers get Gnome ceremorph'd, etc. Just why that is can be a major mystery for...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Exactly. If it's a "civilized" creature (read: walks upright and can learn common), it's one of the small races, preferably one of the playable ones. EVERYTHING ELSE is fair game, within reason.

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Oh, that DOES look cute. Thanks for the recommendation.

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I think that was a later addition/clarification made in Tome of Foes that's carrying over to 2024.

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Small Humanoids/Goblinoids, specifically. Yes, Bloomburrow/Humblewood/Redwall would fit, if you're doing animal races. Edit: as @Meech17 said, those are running on an even smaller scale than I'm envisioning. Wolves would be mounts, not kaiju, if you get what I'm saying.

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

This idea popped into my head. Has anyone done a setting restricted to the small-sized races/species? You know: gnomes, goblins, halflings, kobolds, imps, cherubs(? Is there a small humanoid celestial race? Helluva Boss used cherubs as the opposite of Imps), etc.. I'm just imagining your...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Could use it to scale Unarmed Attacks and Unarmored Defense. Everybody gets their "martial level" as an AC/Attack bonus, Monk/Bard still get their prof. bonuses on top of that.

User Name and Avatars: Origin Stories

My username is a dual Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes reference (name as title like a Time Lord, using the titles of Detective Holmes and Professor Moriarty). The picture is a AIM Icon of Future Luke Triton from Professor Layton & the Unwound Future (actually, LAYTON may be the "Professor" in my...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Sorcerer"

Okay, who's idea was the limit break super form? I'm not a fan. As to still needing materials components: Eh, I homebrewed that out years ago. Basically just moved the component pouch from the "Equipment" field to the "Features" field. A simple change (that I wish was official).

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Monk"

Thank you, I'm probably just expecting the new Monk to be a "two step, one step" situation, given Wizards' track records. Also, neat build. I, obviously, went with Wood Elf for the +5 to Movement Speed. Not like it was for their bow proficiencies. If I was building for 5E, I'd go with...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Monk"

Is it safe to assume that if it wasn't mentioned in the video/article, then it wasn't changed from 2014? Because they don't mention Unarmored Defense or Movement anywhere, from what I can see. My personal fantasy for Monk has been as the one who sacrifices gear for technique. They have honed...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Yeah, HM and PWT would have been a good pairing. I say keep it to WIS, just because this IS a spellcasting feat. I'm personally not one for multiclassing. Plus, the Advantage on Survival checks stacks with the Survivalist feature's double prof. bonus on Survival and Nature checks. I was...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Still a shame the Tracker feat (+1 WIS. Gain Hunter's Mark, can cast 1/LR without slot, can also cast with slots, cast with WIS. Gain Advantage on WIS (Survival) checks to Track) never made it out of UA. Scout + Outlander + Tracker = Good Enough Ranger for Most Players. I can see why they...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Ranger"

Hell, we HAD that with the Scout Rogue. A lot of folks preferred it to the 2014 Ranger, If I'm remembering correctly.

    D&D 5E (2024) All 48 Player’s Handbook 2024 Subclasses

Honestly, I'm just hoping Martial Arts and Unarmored Defense got a boost. I want to my "unequipped" Monk to be able keep pace with the other martials, damage/defense-wise. Also, I agree on the spellcasting oversaturation. It really shouldn't be the default.

Pathfinder 2E "Everything I've Said So Far About the God Who Will Die" - Creative Director Luis Loza on Setting Shake-Ups Coming to PF2E in "War of Immortals".

It just left a blank space when I tried to use it. Whatever, like I said, Paizo put it at the top of their press release for the book.

Pathfinder 2E "Everything I've Said So Far About the God Who Will Die" - Creative Director Luis Loza on Setting Shake-Ups Coming to PF2E in "War of Immortals".

For completeness's sake: I shall reveal which major deity bites it. While Paizo is not being shy about this, I will still spoiler it. Edit: Nevermind. Spoilers seem to be broken. Gorum, God of Battle and War. Ironic, given that his death is what sparks this war in heaven called the "Godsrain"...

Freebies, Sales, and Charity Bundles for May 19, 2024

Bit late on the CyberPunk/VA-11 HALL-A mention, that was Red's April Fools supplement and a fairly good one. I love how they tried to blend Glitch City into The Time of the Red: GC is a contested neighborhood in NC, the Lilim robots are now full-borgs, the White Knights were a splinter off of...

    D&D 5E (2014) protection from elements?

A few months even later. But, just to add, since anything resistant to Fire/Cold is immune to extreme heat/cold, anything that is naturally resistant is also immune. So, Fire Genasi are fine in heat, Dragonborn are fine in heat/cold depending on color, and Tieflings with Infernal Constitution...
