In our AD&D the only declaring done is to declare if you are casing a spell, not even WHAT spell, just a spell. Spellcasting takes time and a lot of concentration and so begins at the start of the round. If your side wins initiative then it will probably go off without a hitch, if not....

I would refuse to play versions I don't like because I have limited gaming time. Also I am the secondary DM and the primary DM agrees with me on 98% of our game choices.
