    Critique my D&D tool

This is a fantastic beginning! As you say, it's a little raw, but I see a lot of promise in it. Keep developing it, please! :)

The dominated condition and sneak attack

I doubt anyone would believe me if I said that I'd contacted 3 different CS types, explaining the issue in excruciating detail, and that all 3 reps upheld the original rep's ruling. :p And if they ruled against the original answer, it would be disingenuous for anyone who had already dismissed...

No NO put it back on! Put it back on! Oh they got to you too.

So it's finally happened? D&D reduced to board games...

I know Paizo struck gold with Pathfinder, and I'm a big Pathfinder fan myself. At the very least, I think Paizo keeps WotC on their toes, but that's not to say I don't believe Paizo products are world class. I'm glad we have choices like D&D and Pathfinder. Having said that, I have a very...

The dominated condition and sneak attack

Nevertheless, CS is WotC's avenue for providing official clarification to their customers. You cannot insist with any credibility that the RAW is the alpha, the omega, the end-all, the be-all, and then in the same breath say that the the very same source of the rules are wrong when they make a...

Oh holy crap, I'd completely forgotten about Blood Wars. Oh gawd it was bad. I think I need to go have a lie down now.

The dominated condition and sneak attack

This shall not stand!! Once again, I'd love to know where you get your information that the CS reps at WotC are "the least D&D-savvy" employees. It has always been my experience that people who find themselves in these kinds of positions do so out of a passion for the game, and although...

    VTT beta feedback?

I currently use d20 Pro and have used Fantasy Grounds in the past. Both of those tools have all kinds of nifty ways to handle adjudication, damage, ongoing effects, initiative, and will even roll saving throws for you. I use almost none of these features. I have the tool track hit points so...

Ritual Casting: thinking of giving for free

As Riastlin says, some classes get this feat as part of their build. So if you're going to allow everyone to have it, you might consider giving those classes who automatically get it some other kind of boon.

The dominated condition and sneak attack

I'd love to know where you get your insight into the CS process at WotC. Do you know somebody who works there? I think it's fantastic that people can obsess about the most granular definitions and specifics of the game, and yet when the people (WotC) who write the rules answer a question not...

So it's finally happened? D&D reduced to board games...

Oh and this was quite funny. So let's see, a company like TSR minus the bankruptcy... - Print an extremely large run of a product that is risky at best. - After over-printed product fails in the market, print more to clutter up warehouse, then sell that stock off as shred by the ton. - Your...

So it's finally happened? D&D reduced to board games...

Even if we don't count product sales, I've seen a figure floating around that has DDI subscriptions at around (if memory serves) 30,000. Even if they're only pulling in $5/mo per subscriber after expenses, that's still $150k per month. Just on DDI. Not even counting physical product. Is...

The dominated condition and sneak attack

Ok, I'm tired of chasing moving goal posts. I think I've made my point enough for anyone to make an informed decision. I'm confident that there's enough ambiguity in the RAW as to make either decision a valid and justified decision. Furthermore, from Abstruse's post we can see that WotC...

The dominated condition and sneak attack

I stand corrected, I didn't realize they'd defined "enemy" in Essentials. RC pg 106: So let's go with that definition. Note the use of the word "power" in the definition. The enemy is the opponent of the power's user. Power has a very specific definition in this game too, so if you're...

Encounters for a 2 person party

I second the multiple-character recommendation. If for anything else, it makes combat more interesting. With two PCs, the DM will be rolling most of the time. With each player running two characters, they get to do stuff twice a turn.

The dominated condition and sneak attack

Draco, I'm not sure what the wall of text is meant for, I think we've hashed out the mechanics pretty well already. Where the hang-up is, is on the definition of "enemy." You've decided that it is a "rules term," which is your definition, not WotC's. As I said, "enemy" is not a concretely...

    DM Metagaming?

If I had to describe a battle cry for my party, it would have to be "I disbelieve!" Yeah, I might have over-played those tactics a little much back in the day.

    Quick Gelatinous Cube question

The imagery behind this is absolutely fantastic.:lol::lol: (pictures a gel cube with a big furry horned hat, a battle axe poking through one side and a shield sort of lodged into the other)
