    Character Builder Copy and Paste

Absolutely, an editable character sheet would certainly be out of the scope of the character builder. But I don't think it's too much to ask for the character sheet to be copyable to the clipboard.

    Audio in banner ads

Here's another one I just got a few minutes ago. The audio is "Congratulations, you won!" http:// localpromotions.info/content/multipromo/index_v5.php?cid=XAJAN2011&audio=off Ironically, the page it takes you to has the "audio=off" tag. (I put a space after the http:// so it's not...

    Character Builder Copy and Paste

 Actually I was being sarcastic in my use of the term "nefarious," as I too think it's likelier that WotC really just doesn't have a cohesive plan in place. Saying they're using it as part of a larger plan to stop us evil-doers I think is just giving them too much credit. :p

    Character Builder Copy and Paste

I don't know about printing. But I know you can copy/paste in the Silverlight API. According to a programmer colleague of mine (I'm not a MS programmer), beginning with Silverlight 4.x, you (the programmer) can access and offer up the clipboard object.

    Level Up!

No-xp games don't have to be episodic. I'll grant you that I'm running my first no-xp game right now, so I can't speak from experience, but even if you want to run a free-form type game, you can run an xp-less game by just deciding amongst yourselves when it's time to level up. So maybe your...

    2/7 DDI Update

Yeah, poor wording on my part, and is what I actually meant to say. Basically I'm arguing that the functionality "framework" be taken care of before adding content. That way, when you go to add, say, Dark Sun themes, well the functionality already exists and you don't have to retrofit it...

    Level Up!

Traveon Wyvernspur , I think the fact that the system works equally well for either type of player speaks volumes to how well designed 4e really was. I'd have never considered xp-less games with previous editions, it would have just been flown in the face of how those systems were built. I...

    Character Builder Copy and Paste

It's not a sacrifice of being an online app, it's a sacrifice to bad design. As implemented, character sheets are basically big images. That's why you can't copy/paste. Wizards didn't have to do this, there's no such limitation imposed by Silverlight, but they did it anyway, and so I have to...

    D&D 4E What If?: Greyhawk 4e in 2012

Absolutely this. I'd probably still buy it if they continued the post-EGG timeline, but I'd much rather a reboot back to his original vision. I don't think a creature catalog would be necessary. After all, most of the monster manual stuff originated with Greyhawk. But the format I'd most...

    2/7 DDI Update

And in fact I think an argument could be made that the focus should have been on features FIRST, before adding any more content. As more content is added, any underlying changes necessary to include a basic feature may mean lots of underlying metadata changes to accommodate the new feature. If...

    Level Up!

Back in the day, I was guilty as charged. I had a character that carried around a little box with an undead skull in it. You inserted a gold piece, pulled the lever which crushed the skull, whereupon you earned 1xp and the skull regenerated. If somebody was close to leveling, they'd spend a...

    Level Up!

In the campaign I'm currently running, we're going to try the "level up when it feels right" route for the very first time. Mostly it's because we can only get together once a month, and we really don't want to spend 4 years getting to 30th. Basically I'm going to run the campaign in an...

    2/7 DDI Update

Can't speak for Quickleaf , but I would have preferred they released a CB that had, at a bare minimum, the functionality of the old CB. I'm happy they're making progress, I'm happy they're addressing important issues, but I do think there's still criticism warranted.

    Action Point usage

Agreed with Nullzone. Tracking turn-progression is tricky enough without the added hassle of PCs interrupting somebody else's turn. And although I can't think of anything off the top of my head, there are probably some situations where unintended consequences creep in. And then you've got the...

    2/7 DDI Update

Woot! Thank you WotC for the blank portrait option.

    Action Point usage

Excerpted from the Compendium: I read "During your turn" to be exactly that. There's nothing that dictates *when* during your turn to spend it, you just need to spend it some time during your turn. Of course, the DM is free to make/change rules, but I'd say going forward this ruling needs to...

Was I being a dick to do this.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but this thread is why you don't go on the internet seeking validation. ;)

Very good to know, thanks! :)

    VTT beta feedback?

I recently saw it demo'd on Youtube, and it seems to be *really* slow. And maybe they'll have that worked out by release, but it was almost maddening watching the guy demo it. (could have been his rig too, but I don't think it was) Features look cool enough though, I can't think of anything...

Looking for a motivation for players (do something cool cards?)

I haven't given rewards for being ready a lot of thought, but I'm a big fan of teamwork. I think I'd do any reward on a group basis. Set a time limit for the entire turn, and if the group as a whole beat the clock then they'd be eligible for the carrot. Seems to me that if you do it with the...
