    D&D 5E (2014) Solution to ASI Problem

Fair enough, so let me explain more. The system is designed from the very beginning to have ability scores have 20's at higher levels. Those increases combine with the Proficiency Bonus to enable character improvement over time, and that's what replaced the fixed scaling combat and DC bonuses...

    D&D 5E (2014) Group Rule Deal-Breakers

If the house rules are extensive, disjointed, and mostly saying 'No. Not this. No, not that either.' Like a list of pet peeves to avoid, rather than a set of goals they're trying to achieve as a game.

    D&D 5E (2014) Should D&D go away from ASIs?

Dunno about your campaigns, but what happened instead in the ones I saw is that everyone collected magic items. 'Monty Haul' was the name of the game. +5 this, Holy Avenger that, Cube of Force and Staff of Power and so many rings they had them attached to little chains that went inside pockets...

    D&D 5E (2014) Solution to ASI Problem

There is no problem now. The math checks out, the game is still growing in popularity, and new players are continually joining. :hmm:

    D&D 5E (2014) Should D&D go away from ASIs?

But that 'baking in' would make those things more fixed, instead of more fluid. I'm saying ASIs make the 'bonuses' and development you get as you level more about the person than the race or the class, and it allows you more customization. Right now, by putting my ASI's and feats in different...

Cute. Thanks for making blocking you an easy decision.

    D&D 5E (2014) Should D&D go away from ASIs?

Another thing I take from it; it's a way for players to customize their characters. Instead of everything being driven by class, some sections are driven by ability scores, and by choosing where to put them, you decide whether to have depth or breadth. Whether to bring up a low score to have...

    D&D 5E (2014) Should D&D go away from ASIs?

I like them because the system is built around them and anticipates them, and the difficult choices between Feats and ASI's force focused character development rather than a constant global improvement. But, it's a moot point. There is no way they'll get rid of them now.

    D&D 5E (2014) Jeweler's Skill? Got a player increasing value of treasure..what?

Maybe it's stupid to you because your example is flawed. You're not really crafting a 5,000gp ring. You're only crafting a ~100gp ring, then sticking a 5k gp diamond on it. The crafting rules would apply if you are literally creating the 5k gold piece value from scratch, out of thin air, but...

D&D 5E (2014) Druid variant without Wild Shape

IMO Earth Tremor is better than Feather Fall for 1st Level Circle of the Mountain, but it's Elemental Evil Guide so not sure if you want to use that source.

D&D 5E (2014) Who really IS the target audience of D&D Next?

Oh, damn. Sorry. I swore this came up on the front page. Maybe I found it during a search? Anyway, my bad. Mods feel free to delete the post.

D&D 5E (2014) Who really IS the target audience of D&D Next?

Judging from our table, 5E really, really resembles the core game all my tables tended to unconsciously house-rule themselves into. I've played Basic as a kid, and the clean, fast mechanics made it easy to get into. 5E does that. It's SO much simpler to get going than 3.5. It does add system...

    D&D 5E (2014) Jeweler's Skill? Got a player increasing value of treasure..what?

Don't get me wrong, we use Downtime rules, encourage all sorts of extra character activities outside adventures, for pure creative expression and to generate game hooks. What I do make sure is that they're not trying to use 'reasonableness' and 'realism' to get a leg up on other characters or...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's: Ranger - Gloom Stalker

Yeah, I like Gloom. Dark is over-used to the point of cliché. Gloom has a feeling of melancholy that gives it a bit more character. When I hear the word I think of fitfully-burning lanterns in deep fog, the howl of a distant wolf, a decrepit Victorian houses, and a night-time tableau of a...

    D&D 5E (2014) alternatives to Nature domain?

Nah, not even - I'm a Land Druid. They're still a little OP at that level, mostly due to how many different things they can do. At 2nd level a Wolf is pretty useful in combat. We're now 4th, and it's leveled out. The Rogue is dishing out serious damage and using Cunning Action to it's fullest...

    D&D 5E (2014) alternatives to Nature domain?

Well, the level 2 Rogue in my party got really angry at my level 2 Druid after I cast Entangle, held my own in combat, then turned into a Wolf to tank and give advantage, and then a mouse to scout. 'Is there anything you can't do?!?' It's all relative. And D&D doesn't have equivalence at every...

    D&D 5E (2014) alternatives to Nature domain?

Oh, I thought you had a fix in mind, that's what I was asking for. I personally don't compare them to a Cleric straight on; IMO they're somewhere between a Cleric, Wizard, and Rogue. Their spell list splits the difference between Cleric and Wizard, their AC is closer to Wizard, their weaponry...

Extremely slow, lost posts, Gateway errors

Over the past several months the site has gotten unbearably slow here in Sweden. Right now, it's 12-15 seconds to load a page. An hour or so ago, a post of mine was 'eaten' by a 'Bad Gateway' error, where I got a blank page, and when I went back to try to retrieve my post, it was gone. In the...

    D&D 5E (2014) alternatives to Nature domain?

If you don't mind me asking here, how? I'm curious. I haven't played a Nature Cleric so I don't have direct experience of any imbalance.
