D&D 5E (2014) No Thief/Acrobat in XGTE, so... how would you do it?

What others say, it's purposefully vague, to avoid stuff like 3E 'use rope'. Take the Athlete or UA Acrobat feat also?

I shoulda put a smiley. I live in Scandinavia too. It's nice here. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Supporting your LGS! Yes, but...

Taxes buy the wonderful socialist-tinged capitalism that makes Denmark one of the nicest places to live on the entire damn planet. You have employer protections the rest of the world would kill to have. Pay your taxes. Support your local LBS. Don't support Amazon's horrifying labor practices...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Are Rangers Arcane Spellcasters?

They're a Sorcerer-mechanic 1/3 divine caster. They cast in an innate way, from a Druid-based list. With a few uniques that make sense for a hunter... i.e., instead of getting Entangle, a crowd control spell, they get Ensnaring Strike, a single-target version.

    D&D 5E (2014) MASTERWORK ITEMS

Some gear should be lighter if it's available as masterwork - modern ultralight camping gear attests to this. I could see weapons being lighter too, as well as more durable, if you play that kind of game. Our table doesn't. We focus on RP and hand-wave away the logistics unless it becomes an RP...

    D&D 5E (2014) Succubus Warlock with Familiar...

I think that sort of opponent is *fantastic*, for the right players. Because it's exceedingly dangerous, and has the potential for some amazing role-play. Those of us who are old school remember D3 Vault of the Drow, which is a *very* high level Underdark hex crawl. One of the iconic encounters...

D&D 5E (2014) ASI's at Character Level instead of Class Level

There's also the fact that classes are still front-loaded, even with the new rules. Taking 2 levels of Rogue gets you a HECK of a lot of value that auto-scales over time (i.e. Expertise), so with math being so flat, it becomes sub-optimal not to multi-class for many builds. It's become...

    D&D 5E (2014) Acererack is a WHAT???

I can't wait to see how it's pronounced in Ready Player One.

D&D 5E (2014) SKT: The Uthgardt and Modern Sensibilities

D&D at it's core can be easily seen as an analogue of colonialism - 'invade the evil Other in their homes, kill them, take their stuff' - so if you focus on that as a whole, and keep the body count of the East India company in mind, that should distract you. :)

D&D 5E (2014) ASI's at Character Level instead of Class Level

3e caster multiclassers were a mess. The thing is, with Bounded Accuracy, how much does it matter to lose an extra attack, when you are instead casting a Faerie Fire, or Bless, or throwing down a Channel Divinity-boosted attack? The game is much, much 'flatter', and I've talked to people that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone else run 5th Edition from a 4th edition perspective?

We've stolen a few 4E and Dungeon World mechanics. Mostly stuff that allows for a more cinematic, character-driven game. Fail forward, minions, stuff like that.

    D&D 5E (2014) Acererack is a WHAT???

... and the skull rises into the air, and the left eye gem flares, as it screams out loud... YOU DARE DISTURB THE REST OF THE GREAT AS WRITTEN?!!?!?

D&D 5E (2014) ASI's at Character Level instead of Class Level

Nah, it's a bad rule, because single-dipping is made more powerful. There is a clear level-by-level progression in character ability, ASI's were planned for specific 'dead spots' where the characters are otherwise flat, and when you dip into classes for 1-3 levels you gain in power as much as if...

D&D 5E (2014) Looking for a generic dark gothic style setting. Not Ravenloft.

Why not the Shadowfell? Did you skip 4E? That's where it came in. From a Reddit post (a decent summary): Cut Strahd and it's decently generic.

High five, dude. I started with 'Blue box' Basic.

D&D 5E (2014) Is infinite diversity in infinite combinations .... a terrible thing in D&D?

Huh, this is where I'm confused too, because I've only once saw one of those in person. I only see them frequently in theory crafting in online message boards. Or used as a straw man argument as denigration of moving beyond the old-school standard stereotypes. As far as those bizarre...
