    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Planescape - In Through the Out Door

The cups scuttle back again, then again, then finally the one on the left kicks up, sending the pebble tumbling back to the lip of the barrel. The cups scrape forward across the wood, back to their initial positions. The middle cup then lifts up and floats up under what appears to be the...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Planescape - In Through the Out Door

The Athar pamphleteer calls something to Shard as she turns away, but the meaning of it is lost above the noise of the crowd.

The cups edge back as Rusty reaches for them.

No kiddin'? How 'bout that? ;) That might be worth remembering, people.

    The cups do not move.

The cups, as if sensing Rusty's presence, spring into motion. A pebble to one side of the barrels skitters in between them, and the middle cup hops onto it, and all three cups perform an elaborate dance. Surely without any tricky hands to cover them, this will be easy? The cups are painted...

The tiefling does not drop his gaze, merely nodding gently. "Will the gods? Do the powers above share of their bounty with those who do not pay in the supplicant's coin? That is not charity." He smiles again. He shuffles the leaflets back into the pile, and gets down off the box. He is not a...

Right here: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/unearthed-arcana-eberron Some good stuff here. The race options are functional, but honestly I'm happier to play it a little looser, especially with this particular game.

I think what Pembinasa was saying would make sense. Bookmarks, new binding, illuminations, filthy limericks scrawled in the margins, all of these could serve to modify and 'improve' Shandrizar the way normal equipment works for all you humanoid types.

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Planescape- In Through the Out Door (Full)

I think this is another good limitation with a built-in benefit. Easy to resuscitate, difficult to repair or replace. A magical book once possessed by (ha-ha) a planewalking archmage seems likely to have a few enchantments to increase its resiliency in the face of an adventuring lifestyle...

Mood music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9mjdRiMInM The walk is uneventful. An angelic-looking man in a three-piece suit walks by in bare feet, while a multicolored feathered serpent trails behind him, some fifty feet long. A shell game sits unattended on a barrel, with the painted cups...

@Quickleaf Great work, as expected. :) I don't see anything that would prevent you from joining the party right now, and I can think of a few ways to hook Shandrizar into the plot going forward. I do think you could stand to be a little tougher for a tank, so I will still put an offer for some...

I did see you mention that on the Shadowrun thread Queenie. Have a good trip, hope everything goes well! And having a pseudodragon as a mount for a Tiny character is fine by me. I love that. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Planescape- In Through the Out Door (Full)

Cool, very cool. That image of a book opening up and shaping its pages strikes me as the kind of thing that might be a lovingly described text-only completely optional side encounter in Torment. :) Fighter 1, Monk 2 or Fighter 2, Monk 1 would both be fine by me, although it's probably the...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Planescape- In Through the Out Door (Full)

I like it very much. :) Maybe Shandrizar can spontaneously summon monsters to fight on its behalf, monsters which you @Quickleaf then control, or at least direct? A fighter with Tavern Brawler or a gnome monk with a few tweaks are probably the two most straightforward approaches. A lot of...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Planescape - In Through the Out Door

The streets are crowded, as they so often are, at the crossing where Bleaker turned into Barmy. The cracked arches of the Shattered Temple rise above the rooftops. The smokestacks of the Great Foundry turn the overhanging smog from gray to yellow and black, shot through with momentary columns of...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D 5e] Planescape- In Through the Out Door (Full)

Maybe, maybe not. If Quickleaf is willing to give up some autonomy in favour of utility (in combat), then maybe we could establish some standing tactics. The spoilered character was a purely defensive tank, much more concerned with holding enemy attention than dishing out punishment. The fighter...

A familiar who's also a fighter? We're moving outside the standard rules a little as it is. I don't mind going further. Besides, this is pretty much exactly what Morte from Torment ends up being, so precedent would be with us on this one. ;)

Well, you're not going to make the decision easy. ;) Fortunately, it's not only my decision to make. What do the players think? PbP can support any number of players comfortably when it comes to interaction. It's only the turn-based portion of combat that tends to bog down with higher numbers...

I think it's fine. :) You didn't react as if it were an illusion, so if you were going on the assumption that you just assumed it was real, then you wouldn't have needed to roll.
