D&D 4E 4e How Should PCs be allowed to Die (Cinematically or Like Everyone Else)?

Death from HP Damage: Yes Death from Traps (Non-Save-or-Die): Yes Death from Drowning: Yes Death from Being Eaten: Yes Death from Slow Effect (slowly turning to stone, etc): Yes Death from Pre-Arranged Plot Development: Yes Death from Save-or-Die: No

    I'm all for this.

    What the heck is "Unfun"?

I am fully anti-Save-or-Die and agree with this statement 100%. I have no qualms about my PC dying from being beaten repeatedly by an oversized weapon; but I definately hate getting the ax on a roll where the only way I could fail was if I rolled a 1. My issues with Save or Die come from the...

Will you be buying the 'Wizards Presents' previews?

I will be buying the core three 4e books so I get the full picture. (As for the rest of 4e, that's up for grabs.) As for the preview stuff; I'm interested in the 'why they did it this way' aspect that the books seem to be selling themselves as but I'm not sure if I am interested enough to pay...

    What the heck is "Unfun"?

I have no problem if a DM limits whats what Race/Class combinations are available. Saying I can't play a Warforged in this campaign in the DM's perogative. There are; however; things I find 'unfun': Twiddelling my thumbs for a large portion of a combat because I rolled a 1 on a saving throw...

Is weapon and armor "proficiency" system REALLY necessary?

Dagger fighting and shortsword fighting are not the same. I've had some training in both. It is possable to stab with a dagger but it usually isn't the best idea. If all you do is stab then you aren't using the advantages that a dagger gives you and opens you up to the advantages that a...

D&D 4E Fluff that plays bad (and how to fix it in 4e)

Alightment Restrcitions Multiclassing Resrictions Those are my big ones and have already been covered My 2cp on the Monk; I don't see anything wrong with having someone that has trained themselves to fight unarmed and is devoted to physical and mental perfection. I see no reason they have to...

Multiclassing: "Any combo, any level, always works."

Far from it. It essentially means (as I see it) that alignment restrictions are out the door; and as a "secret" to let leak out at the time of the announcement I think it is a good enough teaser. I have heard of many groups that complete dropped these restriction and one of the Eberron books...

Multiclassing: "Any combo, any level, always works."

There is a difference between "working" and "working well". I don't see in that quote anything that says 'any combination will work as well as any other combination.' I have no doubt that in 4e a Fighter 10/This Class Rocks 10 will be a better combination than a Fighter 10/This Class Sucks 10...

Why do you think warforged = robots?

And water destroyed the witch because she was a respresentation of the problems caused by the dust bowl, correct? Get your symbolism out of my OZ :D On topic... I get the impression that the 'robot' became an issue because magically controlled 'slaves' (ie golems) have been around and...

Game Breaker Spells - What are they?

I understand where you are coming from and I agree that this should be a concern. But to me the system (so far) never specifies how the wizard uses the spell to unlock the door. A rogue uses lockpicks; a mage... I don't know... "feels" inside the lock or something. As I see it in this fasion...

Game Breaker Spells - What are they?

Skill Spells: I am all for the "skill" style spells to add bonus of one sort or another. Something along the lines of adding the caster level as a bonus and allowing "Trained" uses (or something). THat way anything the Rogue has put into the skill isn't lost, the spell can actually help the...

Multiclassing: "Any combo, any level, always works."

I meant in 3.X, sorry. Wasn't clear on that. I think that removal (or at least reduction) of Alignment is what the quote is really referring to.

Multiclassing: "Any combo, any level, always works."

Alignment restrictions on classes block some combinations as it stands now.

Multiclassing: "Any combo, any level, always works."

I think this quote (while accurate as a quote) needs to be taken in context. This is from a Lightning round style of questioning in the latest podcast so they purposely didn't elaborate on the answer in order to try and get more questions in. Will there be a case of Class A + Class B does...

    Will Favored Classes Remain?

Oh, I hope that's the case. Having something along the lines of Racial Talent Trees that make the Dwarven Fighter more... Drawven Fightery is a much better way to do this.

    Spell Resistance...

I'd argue that another reason for SR is to help give the Weapon Based Damage Dealers a chance to shine. A better example of this are golems with their Magic Immunity (before orbs at any rate). SR just gives more variety in the critters that casters have a harder time with. I'd say the need...

    Spell Resistance...

I would prefer to see SR rolled into the saves somehow. This would also combine two rolls into one (one roll to get past SR and then the save itself). It would also eliminate a line from spell descriptions (Spell Resistance Y/N).

    WotC Blogs II

Wasn't that one of the changes from 3.0 to 3.5? I know it doesn't work that way NOW but I think it was allowed then. I seem to recall having been sidelined by a wolf that kept tripping me some years ago.

    Why is it so important?

I must have missed it then. I have seen Dacileva post evidence that there are some people who do not enjoy playing a low level wizard because of the lack of spells. I have seen you outright dismiss some of the posts (WotC and Usenet) and say that other sources aren't worth considering (UA) but...
