    Eberron's Worth...

My entire point wasn't that warforged are or are not robots. There are viable points for both sides of the argument. I really like the Tim Woodsman analogy. Warforged are much, much closer to the Tin Woodsman than they are to... say... Data from Star Trek: The Next generation. But most (in...

    Eberron's Worth...

To be honest, it's hard to say with how that question is phrased. Warforged are constructs (Living Constructs to be exact). If constructs are "robots" then warforged are indeed robots. I see no real reason that constructs can't be called "robots". But if warforged are robots then robots have...

    Eberron's Worth...

I am a fan of Eberron. Our current campaign is in Forgotten Realms but our DM has pulled a lot of stuff from Eberron and just plopped it down. The Merchant Houses, Dragonmarks and Warforged are all alive and well in our campaign. As information was just starting to leak out about the setting...

    Wolfgang's "Demonweb Q&A"

<continue hijack> *shrug* I'd be surprised if there were NOT published cases of (the equivalent of, at least) golems that can Polymorph Self before 3.x. That's all it would take to have a "robot in disguise". </hijack> Now I'm wondering if they have places aspects of each in the module...

How immersive do want a campaign setting to be?

What a convenient time to ask this question... WotC: Save My Game As far as my own two copper go... I don't want flavor forced on me. If there is some slang that's fine. Don't force me to learn it to play the game. If every NPC has a geneology that the DM has figured out for five...

    Wolfgang's "Demonweb Q&A"

Oh... Ummmm... Okay... I can see why they said to drop that.

    Wolfgang's "Demonweb Q&A"

Since I'm not familier with the original set of adventures I have to ask: What was up with the mechanical spider? I can see was ot make sit fit. If was just a "you enter the room and attacked by a giant mechanical spider" then yes, that would be bad. Why would they need even MORE spiders...

    Wolfgang's "Demonweb Q&A"

Just using that quote as a springboard: My problem with the cant is that I can't understand what the NPCs are saying. DM: He turns to you says [something that sounds like gibberish]. Me: What did he say? DM: He said [gibberish]. Me: Yeah, but what does that mean? DM: He said since...

Books you DON'T want to see WotC publish

Magic Bling Compendium - 1000s of magic items that costs millions of gp each. Worthless Feat Compendium (now with an extra 100 feats that let your Soul Knife manifest different exotic weapons and an extra 200 feats for each +2/+2 skill combination!)

D&D 4E What Should 4e magic be like?

I vote for basing it on the Warlock mechanic. They get a basic attack (the Magic Missile if you will) like they do now that starts at 1d6 and increases every other level. They then get abilities to modify the spell as the Warlocks do; extra range, radius burst, acid based attack, etc. You...

What is the Answer to the Riddle?

That's just it; in these kind of riddles nothing is clear. We need to look at what is confirmed and what is assumed. A man claimes he can put a bottle in the middle of the room and then walk into it. He does so. Of course "it" is "the room" and not "the bottle". Granted, this follows what...

What is the Answer to the Riddle?

It says "son's roasted meat" which doesn't specify that it is his body (implies but not specify). My gut reaction is that the son was a farmer of some sort so the father killed a cow or a pig (after killing his son) and then had a barbeque for the village (thus not being a cannible and the...

Do Magic Item "Shops" wreck the spirit of D&D?

Poor phrasing; my fault. Let me try this again. How long will they be using that weapon? Maybe they have the feats for an axe. The first +1 weapon is a sword. How long before they come across a +1 axe? Maybe the +1 dagger that the wizards wants was the last one to be found, how long...

Do Magic Item "Shops" wreck the spirit of D&D?

How many different stories can you come up with? How many times can famous warrior X kill villain Y and then disappear when they tried to do Z thousands of years ago. Eventually those stories get old and mundane in-and-of themselves. The next questions is 'how long before they get a +2...

Do Magic Item "Shops" wreck the spirit of D&D?

As I stated earlier, and again - coming from a player - giving it a name doesn't cut it for me. I, personally, don't care about the history of an item if it doesn't have anything to do with the story. If Goblin Cleaver is a +1 sword and that is all it ever will be as far as the campaign is...

Do Magic Item "Shops" wreck the spirit of D&D?

At least as far as that goes I will point myself out as someone who sees magic items as a commodity (usually) and welcomes the Impossable Door. And yes, I'm usually a player - not a DM. I may be the odd man out but I would love to see more puzzels in my campaign. I like mysteries and puzzels...

[Star Wars] Saga Edition's New Damage System

This may seem like a stupid question but... Why? Star Wars is an action series. Fights break out left and right. Blaster bolts go flying through the air and the heroes are always outnumbered. Yes, they take cover. Yes, they sometimes run. But they don't get cut down by mooks. Any deaths...

Do Magic Item "Shops" wreck the spirit of D&D?

For some of us it is just a pint of oil. In my current campaign our boat is more important to me (at least) than the +2 shortbow I have. Why? Because the boat has a more interesting history to me than the bow does. I could go on about the adventure of how we got the boat, what the boat has...

What basic skills should every Dungeons and Dragons player "no"?

My handwriting is horrible. I write with my right hand but I hold the pen/pencil/bloody finger like a left handed person (my hand is at the 90 degree angle I tend to see with left handers). I've heard the term Hen Scratching applied to this but I don't know if there is a real "term" to how I...

How often do you provoke an AoO on purpose?

I don't avoid them if there is a reason not to. I have provoked them in the past so someone else wouldn't have to. If I have to be somewhere on the map to attack/flank/block an escape then I have to be over there. If that provokes at AoO - so be it.
