    I Have A Problem With 3E

    1. Multiclassing I don't think we view multiclassing as the same thing. A Fighter/Thief isn't a guard that decided we wants to open safes - to me they would be more of thug style that works for the thieve's guild. He didn't just 'suddenly' gain more combat ability - he always had it but has...

    Shamus does AoO

Rack up another vote for "Love the comic but not this strip". AoO aren't difficult 95+% of the time after you learn the basic four or five methods that will crop up commonly. The worst that happens in the course of the strip is a chain of attacks that only gets two deep and none of the ones...

    Is Originality important ?

Even Shakespear wasn't exactly original in his day. The real question is what do you want the session/adventure/campaign to do. How many time have you watched your favorite movie? Or rewatched a particular television episode? If that is the feeling you are going for then go ahead and post a...

Core Religions Survivor - Round Five

My first vote would be Tiamat but I think the dragon is about to join the realm of the non-islanders without my help. So "good-bye" to Pelor and his munchkin-ness.

    Buffs and Maths (mini-rant)

I have no porblem with buffs. When it gets to be "too much" to remember (if that be 2 or 3 buffs or maybe I'm having trouble remembering my own buff that I cast (has happened on more than one occation)) I scribble down the new stats on a scrap sheet of paper between my turns. I have the new...

D&D Insider - Pay tomorrow for what you get today for free?

I'm in the wait and see camp. Mostly to see what the price would be. There are a couple of things listed that sound cool so the question becomes will the price be worth the one or two aspects of this that I would actually use. I'm guessing 'no' but... we'll wait and see.

Which is better: Character death or item destruction?

"In general" having gear go bye-bye is the better outcome. If you have a character built around an item (a Kensai or an Ancestral Relic for example) and you "know" (by whatever method) that the item isn't coming back - then it would be better to be dead and start over.

    Does getting treasure equal fun?

I am a techno-geek so therefore toys = fun in my book. I can do without the loot but cool loot helps. However it does depend on the toy to determine how much fun. Five heavily magical Large Great-Axes doesn't help a halfling wizard that much. Sure, you can sell them but that isn't nearly as...

    Is D&D a heroic game?

D&D and gives us the chance to "perform" super-human acts to overcome supposedly insurmountable odds. It is heroic. The characters may not be Superman-in Shining-Armor Paladin types, but that doesn't stop the characters surmounting the insurmountable (or being TPK'd while trying).

D&D 4E The Soonest You Would Purchase 4e

As others have said I will be getting the core books when they become available. Anything else will depend on if I like 4e or not. The date doesn't matter to me.

    Was I unfair?

Were you unfair? It doesn't sound like it. However, it sounslike information wasn't traveling back and forth between all parties. A shas been hinted, there are alot of different horror types so saying "horror" doesn't mean the same thing to all people (I know you said you were using Ravenloft...

Mike Mearl's on simplifying skills in D&D

I don't like it. This system doesn't let you 'get better'. AT the start of your career you need to work at the average door lock and by the end of it the door opens itself just because you looked at it (literaly or figuratively - take your pick). I like that a lot. Not to mention that it...

Ever died from suffering an AoO?

Yup, I've had a PC get splattered from an AoO. 3rd or 4th level facing some sort of skeleton with reach. I had taken some attacks and needed to drink a potion. I knew I couldn't survive another onslaught from the critter so I tried to tumble out of the way and failed. The critter answered my...
