    D&D 4E 4E PHP cover art changed

I think it's less this and more "The big evil red guy is a monster so that's okay but the evil looking guy in a dress is a PC and that's bad" issue. My gut reaction at any rate.

Casual Player, Casual Roleplaying, Sucking the Wonder Away

I will answer this as a player. I have DMed in the past but for the vast, vast majority I have been a player. My first move in this situation would be to ask everyone what they liked bast about the last X sessions and what they liked worst. This could be public at the start/end of a session...

Loss of Innate Spellcasting (or 'How Dragons Build Lairs')

Two things... First, this is of course assuming that the PCs spot the messangers first (as opposed to discovering the messages themselves on a newly dead guys desk and also are not aware that there is even a dragon in the area. What are the PCs doing in the area with "nothing" to be able to...

Keeping control of your game while keeping illusion of liberty

So... I don't get why the author hates water that the player can't cross and then suggests having water that the PCs can't cross. I have no problem with my DM saying "I didn't prep that". That's the trust I have with my GM. We usually don't end up having that problem by having us players...

Loss of Innate Spellcasting (or 'How Dragons Build Lairs')

All dragons have secret lairs? I always thought that the ones that were arrogent didn't care (the dragon would eat anyone they didn't like anyway) and the (nonmagical) ones that did have secret lairs would have a randevouz location (either at sceduled times or the dragon would swing by that...

D&D 4E Should 4e martial artists have "monk" flavor?

I'm also a vote for the Talent Tree option. Have it so that one can easily make a Brewser that fight with his fists and doesn't care about his Inner Calm and also a martial artist that has all of the 3.X mental abilities. It could be all the same class (maybe even the Fighter class) just with...

How much of your typical play time is combat?

60 to 70 % But that number only goes up as our level goes up. By the time we finished our last campaign that ended at level 27 it was closer to 95% combat (since combats took so long to finish).

But what if I LIKE Anime/Video-game tropes in my D&D?

I was born in 1978 so I grew up on He-Man, GI Joe, Thundercats and Votron. My first exposure to D&D was the computer game Pool of Radiance on my dad's Commodore 64. I like many anime series (Ghost in the Shell) and can't stand others (Dragonball Z). I really enjoy video games (I love FF6...

Chainmail Bikinis & other Cheesecake art in the 4th Edition Core Books.

It's fantasy. Things are idealized. Not everything will be realistic or practical and I for one don't care. My life wouldn't make for an exciting action movie so I definately don't want 110% realistic. I like seeing pics where women are fully armored and where they are... well... not. I'm...

If WOTC gave us a preview from MM1...?

That was my thought. Base it off of something very simple so we can get a good look at the basics then give a few versions. If they gave us kobalds or goblins we could get a melee version, a ranged version and then some sort of leader so we can see different versions of the same critter.

    How do you pronounce Drow?

I, in full knowledge, pronounce it wrong. I pronounced it wrong for so long that the 'correct' way to say it sounds... well... it sounds wrong.

WotC_PeterS talks about his "aggresive playtest" (with Le Rouse, SKR, & Noonan)

I need to thank Mr. Noonan for that write up. As an engineer (software engineer - but still...) I find the background workings of stuff like this to be very interesting. I am also pleased that they are thinking of asking stuff like 'where did you look for it first'. That alone might speed up...

Holiday Present - The Elf PHB entry

I agree. Sure, with magic they may be able to help mold the tree into whatever shape/style they want but "to never cut living trees" seems... extreme and causes problems of its own. What if a treant goes nuts and causes trees to attack the village? Does the treant itself count in this (or are...

The Tielfling and The Gnome: On the Set of 4th edition

'I see' said the blind man as he picked up the hammer and saw. (Most puns would likely qualify for this.) There are three kinds of people in this world; those who can count and those who can't.

Your preference for how "fragile" 1st-level character should be

I'm primarily a player and I want tougher 1st-level characters. I don't want them to be a brick wall and steamroll over anything in their path; but I want to be able to survive that first critical hit.

WotC_PeterS talks about his "aggresive playtest" (with Le Rouse, SKR, & Noonan)

Scott: Thank you for the greater detail and for the fact that you are still willing to hang around here. It's very nice to know a WotC staffer is actually reading what is here. P.S. I also enjoyed The Funny. Please bring more of it.

D&D 4E 4e Races and Classes: "Why we changed the gods"

I'm going to back WotC on this one. In the first book of the system I'd rather have a handful of new feats/talents and or spells than a fully fleshed out pantheon. In a setting book then go ahead and give detailed writeups on the gods of Agriculture, Doorways and Pocket Lint. In the FR...

    Dungeons, Dragons, and Demographics

    29. 2e was the first table top version I played (my first D&D experience was the old gold box Pool of Radience) and I am cautiously optamistic about 4e.

    OotS 512

I have bought OotS books. I have bought the books because I enjoy the strip. I would very much prefer it if he was able to keep up with the schedual that he said he would and to have the bandwidth available so I can read the strip when I want to and thus in turn I would give him more money by...

DM's what kinds of monster features 'annoy' you or make your job harder?

I don't DM very often, but when I do I avoid those three things at all costs.
