I would argue that DH is not a "narrative storytelling engine" but a traditional heroic fantasy RPG with some narrative design influence.

And it is 5 in your hand of domain cards, then a few more for actual class, subclass, species, etc, so the 9-ish range holds.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

The waffling between natural language and precise tags makes the 2024 rules harder to use in some instances, as well.

There is an old addage: neither growth nor D&D Editions last forever.

I am not sure why you are pointing earnings statements at me.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

Sorry, I was not clear: if people are buying the PHB on Beyond instead of physically, there would be fewer Amazon reviews for the PHB. In addition, since most people are probably just players, the DMG and MM would have bigger numbers because DMs are more likely to buy physical books and have...

I don't think most players buy more than the PHB.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Yeah, the "rugged PC" I build FOR CP2077 before launch is now feeling a little less rugged.

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

I finally decided to start Cyberpunk 2077 again. I played it (on a pretty rugged PC) right when it came out and really enjoyed it. But I decided to put it down after 10-12 hours and wait until it was polished. I never got back to it due maily to educational requirements. Now that I finally have...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

I wonder if 2024 players are using Beyond at a higher rate than 2014 players.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

As an aside: I think the warlock class structure is the best of the bunch and would use it as the template for a lot of different types of classes, starting with the monk.

    D&D 5E (2024) Heroes of the Borderlands

This might have been answered earlier in the thread: how extensive is the adventure? Is it a Phandelver scale starter campaign, playable for a longer period, or just a short one shot thing?

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

It is weird that folks seem okay ignoring the lowest ratings as from"haters" but not the highest ratings as from sycophants.

I refuse to take responsibility for that monstrosity. I was half drunk when I wrote the OP and expected it to fade into obscurity within the hour.

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

Here's the thing: it is 2025. We have reached the point where we understand, even when playing a traditional RPG like D&D, that the GM is not the sole author. And more particularly that GMs need permission to mess with PCs because PCs belong to the players. Now, this can be session zero...

D&D General The Player's Quantum Ogre: Warlock Pacts

All characters learned their skills from someone. They all have backstories and ties to setting elements outside themselves. The rogues old guild can come for them, or the wizard's master can summon them for aid. That's part of playing in a fictional world. But the idea that the GM is somehow...

This is kind of trying to read the GM's mind stuff I abhor.

Your metrics feel off. Scarcity is not related to anything beyond interest. Remember that it is essentially an extension of CR fandom. That doesn't necessarily translate to people playing it. I mean look at Avatar and Cosmere. Huge Kickstarters. Who is playing them?
