What Makes A Successful Superhero CAMPAIGN

Im.not sure how either of those things apply. In Watchmen, no one is super (well, one guy, buy I don't think Manhattan is a PC). And in The Boys, everyone but the PCs is super.

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

Cozy at least is a genre that is up and coming in TTRPGs.

What Makes A Successful Superhero CAMPAIGN

While I agree,I have long wanted to try and run a "you are supers but no one else is" campaign and just see what happens. I have never had the opportunity tho.

    As one does.

    OSR Do Shadows make noise?

What if they are audibly silent but can still be sensed? A wrongness in the area or a sensation of chill (classic ghost stuff)? That way you could still utilize "perception checks" to whatever degree you wanted, but not make them make noise.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

I was sort of trusting (general) you to be able to figure it out yourselves....

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

I don't think rating a thing needs to be in comparison to anything else. I liked Superman 2025. Great fun movie. I don't need to rate it in comparison to any of the other Superman things.

What are you reading in 2025?

I just assumed you were prepping or writing for Pirate Borg.

What are you reading in 2025?

That first one is Empire of Blue Water, btw. Which looks really great. Thanks! (I have read the other two.)

What are you reading in 2025?

I really need a new audiobook for my commute. I have kind of run out of WW2 era espionage books, and books about the history of video games, comics and RPGs. I need a really compelling nonfiction narrative but no true crime.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Yeah, it seems very strange to me that some people think OSR=low level and that's the defining feature.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

I went with 5 as well. It's... fine, I guess, but also not fine in places. And after I finish my current campaign I won't be running it again (and it is probably my last 5E campaign overall).

    The books certainly look great.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

On a scale of 1-10. EDIT: where 1 is the worst and 10 is the best. Just a simple, non-scientific poll. Of course, if you have more nuanced opinions, that's what the thread is for! EDIT: Also, I made sure you can change your vote, for the wishy washy among us.

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

A genre I just can't seem to care about: anything "cozy." I need stakes.

That is a helpful explanation. Thank you.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

Session 3 of our Age of Umbra campaign last night -- which started as a "test the system" one shot, then a "pick up game" second session and now is the campaign. I need to remember to implement more clocks, both short and long term. Otherwise I am starting to get a good feel for spending fear...

D&D 5E (2014) Ben Riggs talks to Richard Baker. Phandelver in 2018 alone sold 300k copies.

What I mean is that a TTRPG cannot, by definition, require more GMs than players. At the very best, it is 1:1 and that is exceedingly rare.

What Lost, Abandoned or Short Lived TTRPG would you like to see get a re-issue and new support?

4E definitely does not qualify for this discussion.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

This is why I advocate for talent trees in a theoretical 6E. Have fewer classes and let the player decide how to specialize (or not). Just don't have trap options or dead chains.
