What is a West Marches game?

These seems like a good foundation of how to make a superhero "west marches" since superheroes tend to be more reactive. Of course, the ultimate would be a gamecwhere there are villain and hero players all in the same player driven open world.

5E Powered Gamma World: What Should It Look Like

I love MYZ but is is only superficially like GW. MYZ is intentionally coherent, especially when considering all of the parallel games. GW is intentionally incoherent, much more Thundarr than Mad Max.

    Morality of mind control…

It seems strange to come in to a discussion and attempt to make an end run around the point by shifting the goal posts. You decided to latch on to a specific word -- supernatural -- to then attempt to argue that deceit is mind control. That's both nonsensical, and besides the point.

    Morality of mind control…

Nothing in that example is "mind control." It is trickery.

    Morality of mind control…

I am not sure why you are imagining an end of mental continuity. It is essentially the same as misremembering soemthing: a fact that you knew yesterday is different than a fact that you knew today. Even if you go with a more extensive personality change, it doesn't make sense to me. If a person...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

Hit 2 birds with one stone and set Kingmaker in the Indigo Isles?

    Morality of mind control…

That seems pretty extreme and completely lacking nuance. If a slight, innocuous change is "horrifying evil" where do you go from there? I get that people think of mental autonomy as an absolute red line, but "You now like Bob" is not on the same level of "You now serve Lord Baddy with fervor."

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

On the upside, maybe the big players are finally moving away from campaign length adventures. I think one big long adventure per tier of play is a good compromise and move back toward "adventures" instead of "campaigns."

    Morality of mind control…

I think posts juxtapositing mind control versus killing are sort of missing the point. The idea isn't "Is mind control more evil.than killing?" The question is "Is mind control, in and of itself, an evil." And while as I stated in my response previously, I think the answer is "It depends on harm...

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I am reminded: the most important 6E improvement is NO GNOMES. Except perhaps as as a lore official food source for gnolls.

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

The most useful things I every found in the DMsGuild were GM toolkits for running WotC's modules. I have never looked but I assume the Pathfinder version has similar resources.

    Playground Adventure Environments

My kids are in college now, but when they were playground age the things still allowed running pewpew games etc. But it is true that I have not been on a playground in a decade.

    Playground Adventure Environments

I have never regarded or even heard of playgrounds impeding children's creativity. It seems ridiculous on its face, based if nothing else on personal experience on the monkey bars 40 years ago.

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

I said "Why are the APs so wordy? It would be easier to run there were more bullet points and fewer walls of text." He said "A lot of our customers buy APs to read them so they are written for that purpose." I don't think it is controversial to say that in general APs (and D&D adventures too)...

What do YOU plan on doing with Daggerheart?

Here is the text for the first newpaper article I am going to post for my Daggerheart supers convention games to gin up interest as well as introduce villains, pregens, setting elements, and lore: ---------- Arcanopolis Eye 3rd Highward, 2390 Admiral’s Ball Robbed by Vampire Witch, Thwarted by...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

I'm not sure it was "meme nonsense." In an exchange on the forums where I said that the wordiness of the APs made them harder to run, James Jacobs replied directly and said that many customers only ever read them and so the prose was important.

D&D General Friday Fun: Explain A D&D Thing Badly

It's simple. First you decide how you feel about stabbing people. Then you decide how you feel about stealing from their corpses. And where those overlap, that's your personality!
