    Best OGL Monster Books

Though location specific, the Wanderers Guide books from Goodman (Monsters of the Endless Dark, Monsters of the Boundless Blue, Primeval Groves) and 3 AM Games (Monsters of the Savage Snow) are another good series, though the OGC is just the stats and combat section. And I suggest staying away...

I want an invading army from beyond this dimension. Tell me about it.

Depending on how developed your underdark is, intelligent purple worms would make a lethal invasion. Young (ie those under 30 feet long) are "foot soldiers". As for their tunnels, they are either verticle to the surface or crumble after the worm passes. How does one fight an army that is almost...

How about an army of flesh golems looking for new raw material to increase their numbers?

    Best OGL Monster Books

Before Minions was released, there was a pdf with ~13 monsters that were not incorporated into the book. Complete Minions merges those with the book and updates them to 3.5. It also has some new art, though the 3.0 version included also has new art that wasn't used in the 3.5 version (??)...

    Best OGL Monster Books

Bastion's Complete Minions is my favorite- all kinds of weird and wonderous critters. Minions, the 3.0 version is in print and Complete Minions is a pdf.

I want an invading army from beyond this dimension. Tell me about it.

I would use them as the leaders and maug as the base soldiers. Oozes that can not affect the maug are used as weapons of mass destruction. Or, use chaos beasts, in place of the oozes, that also affect plant life and get a Mist like senario. Or use some of the dragonspawn from the MMIV and have...

Has anyone developed material templates for elementals?

If you want to take and run with it, go ahead. It was just a little light bulb for me and I doubt I will get around to expanding upon it.

Has anyone developed material templates for elementals?

All the main elements have many, many variations, even fire can be different by what it is feeding on. Has anyone here developed templates on that subject?

Why don't giants rule the world?

And that is why I think kobolds are under estimated. The average kobold is as intelligent as the average human and have at least 3 times the breeding capacity. Give them a safe haven and they will pour over the land. And what of social insectoids like the abeil? They work better together...

Why don't giants rule the world?

Okay, then why don't kobolds rule the world? They breed a lot faster than humans and are one of the few races that are naturally magical (sorcerer as favored class). A lot of low level sorcerers can make a lot of low powered magical items to boost their leaders as well as flinging spells.

    Fantasy "biotechnology" and other alterations

Sadly it took me this long to buy that and I have a few questions for you, if you don't mind: Could a species be hybridized with itself to provide increased stats? If an intelligent creature is part of the hybrid, is its mind retained? If so, what happens if 2 or more intelligent creatures are...

Has there ever been an indepth look at the deepspawn?

All life wants to expand its territory, why not the deepspawn? With the more land (above or below ground) they have control over the more progeny they can produce- both spawn and offspring. And, with lots of land, offspring and siblings can be viewed as allies and not compedators (sp). With...

Has there ever been an indepth look at the deepspawn?

And one last idea- abeil, da fong and kr'awn (the latter 2 are from Atlas' Fantasy Bestiary) have queens/royalty/breeders that could be consumed by a deepspawn and then duplicated ad nausem to produce as many hives as possible loyal to it. Humanoids, including humans, would have a tough time...

Has there ever been an indepth look at the deepspawn?

There are 2 answer threads there, the better one: http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2111&SearchTerms=deepspawn (the last post has the answers). The other thread had one spiffy idea I was considering as well- allowing deepspawn to consume their progeny after they gain levels. This...

Has there ever been an indepth look at the deepspawn?

Thanks. I was just wondering if they could duplicate a specific person (of any race) multiple times and if their progeny could gain levels. If either or both is true, then deepspawn become much more interesting and useful. I could add them obviously, I was just wondering what the books mentioned.
