WHat are the best books/items ever for D&D? :)

I wanted to think about this before answering and I am happy I did so. I looked through my shelves and, though I wanted to answer The World Builder's Guidebook, Sea Devils and some 3rd party material for 3.X (esp From Second World and Distant Horizon), my real answer took up the majority of my...

AD&D 2E Anyone have numbers for 1/2e monsters?

Has anyone added up the number of monsters that were in 1e, including Dragon? What about 2e?

Gamma World Novel scheduled for February

Exactly. After digging them up, one is an older book (from the 2e era)- Light on Quest Mountain. The other one from the 4e era (1994) is American Knights. I got both from Noble Knight (under novels) for less than 10 bucks combined. Hiero's Journey is one of the inspirations for GW. Aldiss'...

Gamma World Novel scheduled for February

Novels, I don't think so. There have been 2-5 "pick a path" books. I don't know if I want to read it. The 2 PAP books I own make me cringe with how the setting was designed. But then I enjoy Mutant Future more than GW. Some of the inertia from the earlier editions has bogged down the whole IMO.

Monster Manuals: Things You Don't Kill

You might find this useful: Statless critters It is my collection of creatures meant to show how alien a Mutant Future setting can be. It isn't my huge list of combat critters*, but rather those not meant for violence (for the most part). * My mutant Future critters - RPGnet Forums Over 650 at...

    Which System

Deep character building. Hmm. Well GURPS and Alternity are just as good as Hero for that. Fates Worse than Death is a specific setting and rules about highly developed characters (but can be tweeked for other settings). But it is a giant book and it may take some time getting through the whole...

    Exotic Materials

Do you want existing sources with OGC? ST Cooley has the Enchiridion of Treasures and Objects D'Art (pdf only AFAIK) and Mad Kaiser's Bazaar Book C (though A and B have lots of good stuff as well) have tons of useful materials, from hides to fantasy metals.

Undersea Adventures: Comments, Concerns, & Concepts

The Swarm (like Fragment by Warren Fahy) has a lot of interesting material but the author knows jack about real science. He has a marine biologist actually care that he discovered a new species of worm and mentioned some prize for doing so. Real biologists would call it Tuesday and slap it on...

    World Building Resources?

Gary's wife pulled the plug. I second Worldbuilder's Guidebook and Aria, though I do warn that Aria is difficult for many people to read (it is the most pretentious rpg I have read and I own Sorcerer).

    Your Favorite Monsters, And Why

Looking through my books, I found a couple more worth mentioning from Atlas' Fantasy Bestiary. Seedkin reproduce like bacteria. Even high level characters are going to suffer from hundreds of millions of 1/2 hit die monsters. Child of Darkness/Child of Light are two templates to represent a...

    Your Favorite Monsters, And Why

Deepspawn. They are so much fun to design around and can be the most powerful (non divine) creature in existance. Feed one a formian queen and then it can have an entire hive devoted to its survival. Feed one a first level kobold sorcerer and then it has tons of magic items for world...

Bas-Lag: The World of China Mieville

They are taking their time to get it right. Last time GMS mentioned it over at rpg.net, he said it might be out this fall or winter.

LEGEND OF THE SEEKER #22:Tears/Final *THE END* Season 2/2010

I was expecting him to slay the Keeper in kid form after being slain and sent to the underworld. And then Cara brings him back along with the stone, which really doesn't matter because the Keeper was the one tearing the veil.

Animal Cults... (the good and the bad...)

But those have historical basis. If you want weird, there are plenty of animals, most invertebrates, that would be much stranger. What would a cult about stoneflies, arrow worms, chitons and or house centipedes be based on?

    Supernatural season finale (Spoilers)

Chuck. And I thought Michael's face as he was dragged into the cage was hilarious. I feel sorry for his vessel though.

Animal Cults... (the good and the bad...)

Rats and cockroaches for survival cults, rabbits and pigeons for breeding cults, wolves and falcons for hunting cults and sharks and pike for fishing cults. As for termites, those cults that want an ordered society where males and females are equal (unlike ants and wasps) would find them perfect.

    Questions about the Oathbound revival

The thread about Bastion reminded me of this thread. I have one more question- is the list of domains to be described set? I don't know if I want to see Anvil or The Vault after Eclipse.

    Bastion Press: Best Books?

The Player's Guide to Oathbound: http://ghostwind.net/PGO.zip Hundreds of pages of OB goodness for free. As I mentioned above, the new prestige races are in interesting take that more players and DMs should be willing to try out than the originals (xp for abilities) or prestige racial levels...
