    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

... it does not cost a spell slot... that we know of... ;) But yeah, I do think you're right. Magic items will be the way to go beyond physical/mental limits.

    D&D 5E (2014) What should I steal from these 5e adventure books? (+)

We had a great time with OotA. Everyone made 2 characters in the beginning, choosing one as their primary, and aft the other was an NPC that would be "found" later if the first died. There were fascinating regions, great fights, and several good deaths. Glabbagool was awesome.

D&D General D&D Player's Handbook 2024: The Official Advance Review

Wizards doesn't own words, correct. But they do get to define their creations, just like you do. Sure, you can disagree, but following your further logic, does that mean that your own definitions don't matter and people get to define them as something other than how you do? I'm pretty certain...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

But doesn't the limitation of the Light property (the root of the combo) limit it to one extra attack? "When you take the attack action, you can make one extra attack as a bonus action later in the turn." Doesn't that limitation still apply with Nick, even if Nick repeats it in its description?

D&D 5E (2024) Josh Herman (Head of Art) Interview with Silver and Blue Dragon Art

I did love the art of the 3E blue. However, I think the more sleek, sinuous body lets it burrow (swim?) through sand with less resistance, like a sand worm or grabboid, and therefore more feasible.

    D&D 5E (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

This looks like an attempt to replace campaign-specific story descriptors like bonds/flaws and the like, with ability-based descriptors. It's not the same thing, but it is a thought-jogger for how to portray your character. I never liked putting evil alignment options in the 2014 PH...

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

Well, if the 2024 Monster Manual explains how the "Alignment" entry is being representative of "typical" monsters of the respective type, that solves it. It wouldn't need to be in each entry.

    D&D 5E (2024) Influence Action

I see some criticisms about the PHB that don't make sense to me because the issues make more sense to be DM/NPC/Narrative/Story/Exploration/Encounter kinds of things, each of which are the purview of the DM. Leverage and other NPC factors. The DM decides if the NPC has qualities that can be...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

I do understand your position. I really do. I don't envy you. On my side of things, while I'm trying to skip around in glee in my happy place of hype and excitement for the 2024 books, I have to manage how I react to the negativity of the same criticisms and arguments over and over again in...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

We as humans often perceive new information through our lenses of personal bias, whether positive or negative. For me, the new books are welcome, and the parts I don't like are drowned out by the parts I do like. Simple. For others, any parts they don't like might drown out the parts they do...

    D&D 5E (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

They literally see all nearby ghosts and other spiritual apparitions in the Ethereal plane, all the time. They are a haunted race.

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

Maybe some of the other dragons will have different physical attacks available to them. Could another dragon type have a special tail attack or wing buffet attack that is something different than the Rend?

    D&D 5E (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

Well, as written it seems that kuo-toa can sense your existence, but not see you if you hold still. But the moment you move, they zero in. You're kind of like a Predator (from the movie) to them. You are the creepy thing in their world. Makes them paranoid that something is there.

D&D 5E (2024) Is anyone going to use the new 2024 backgrounds?

... But you want them to pick options off of different drop-down menus? Choose which ability scores you want to add three +1 bonuses (you can add up to two of them to one score if you wish) Choose 2 skills from the skill list in Ch. X that makes sense for your background (Is this where you...

D&D 5E (2024) Is anyone going to use the new 2024 backgrounds?

Maybe because this book is also written for the brand new players who are picking it up for the first time (maybe without a veteran to walk them through it), and the background packages are designed to narratively and mechanically make sense for those new players. Veterans have a sidebar that...

D&D 5E (2024) Is anyone going to use the new 2024 backgrounds?

Eh. No more restrictive than class or species. These character creation "packages" are part of D&D, and I'm fine with it. Of course, of the 3, I'm fine with backgrounds being the most "editable" because they consist only of modular objects, including ability score bonuses, proficiencies, and...

D&D 5E (2024) Is anyone going to use the new 2024 backgrounds?

Some of us have long-time, expert players who will likely customize their backgrounds. I know at least 2 of my players like to customize at deep levels. But I suspect some people want to focus on the story, not the speed of the build, and others like the idea of kicking the tires on the rules...

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

Understood. I don't think I would go hard to paint to criticize something that I myself would do. For instance, I would not allow the 2014 paladin smite rules, or the 2014 druid wildshape rules at my 2024 table. Because I realized their imbalance for my table. I'd still consider other 2014...

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

I too am a paladin player. Yeah, I've already gotten my kicks with the multi-smite. I'm now looking for the more broad, diverse, balanced, builds that paladins can embody. That widens the playability of my favorite class. I see the subclasses as very different character options now! I feel that...

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

I'm curious about your actual stance as a DM in these situations. Do you ever deny player wishes? Or do you allow everything they ask for? And of course the paladin got compensation. The new paladin has better spellcasting, Channel Divinity, Lay on Hands, Auras, and other refined attack boons...
