Should I hurt my DM for....

It's little non-standard snapshots like this that make me say "I love this game". :)

Miniatures Handbook: Feats, Spells & Monsters

Ah...to potential buyers: I love the D&D stuff in the MiniHB*, but I have to say--I don't think it's worth the cost if you don't play the Minis game. I was lucky enough to have a friend sell me an extra copy of his for cheap. So my advice is, if you can, get an on-sale copy. :)...

Miniatures Handbook: Feats, Spells & Monsters

I used the Marshal class in a game recently. Great stuff. The main foes for an adventure were squads of lawful fiendish orcs who were searching for a portal to Hell in a decimated dwarven city. 7th level marshals were the captains of these squads, and they really helped lend an in-game...

D&D 3.x Best way to implement these in strict 3.5 rules?

For #1, I'd say that's definitely an illusion (pattern) effect. That's all I can offer on this right now, since I'm busy with workage. :)

    Planar Handbook Chat Log

It's just as easy to make the Modrons alien horrors of ultimate law as it is to make them comic relief. Sometimes a goofy exterior can really throw people for a loop when the creature does something severe. I'm a big fan of funny-looking gone weird and oh-so-wrong... I mean: picture a...

Miniatures Handbook: Feats, Spells & Monsters

My druid's loving the snake's swiftness spells. Allowing the Cleavey barbarian brute an out-of-turn swing at just the right moment can really help out a combat. :)

Eric Noah Is My Half-Fiend Love Child

It's an old Ettin tune, from their hard-to-find 2000 debut--the low-tech hi-five Better Than One. This collection of seventeen songs (some of them inspired by regular EN World posters) won 9 Grammys but, sadly, not a single ENnie. Who am I? I oversee the Ettin franchise. I guess you...

Have you ever felt like "restarting" a campaign?

Ever forward, I say. This stuff isn't written in stone--and if you guys are having fun, you've met what should be your top goal! I dig BG's "TV Series" analogy. Most characters will fill out with time. Your character just happens to be the campaign-as-a-whole. :)

Goliath Preview? Well, what do you think?

I like 'em. Flavorful and unique. I could have fun playing with these guys. On the rollplaying angle: I don't mind the "medium.5" stuff. Dwarves get stability even though they don't have four legs, and I don't see that breaking the game... Hmm...four-legged dwarves...kinda gachnolothy. :)

How does your group handle a character's Hit Points?

In the group I'm currently a player in we're doing 75% maximum each level. When I DM, I give players the choice of 50% max or a straight roll.

    Designing NPCs on the fly

The important stats for a quickie "tough guy" encounter are a level, attack bonus, AC, hit points, and damage. For a fighter: Attack bonus: level + whatever strength mod you apply to him AC: Whatever he's wearing + whatever Dex mod you apply Hit points: level x 10 x some fair...
