Changed this thread/poll name from "products" to "publications" to make things easier for @Clint_L 's future poll.

RPG Evolution: The Right to Archive

Agreed. Though I don't have a lot of confidence that Wizards would even handle a partial re-release well, considering some of the gaffes on DM Guild where they (presumably) do have 100% of the reprint rights (poor scans, pages missing, and some historically significant products still absent like...

D&D Beyond Releases New Free D&D Adventure Featuring 1980s Cartoon Characters

Yep, according to their 2021 statement on canon (which disappeared during the migration to the DDB site), every "expression" of D&D is treated as its own canon. So this digital module contradicting the IDW comics is consistent with that. Of course, that also means these characters are the 2024...

Sounds like the premise of the comic book DIE.

    D&D General Discussion: 50 years, 50 publications

Sorry, I'm out of ideas for further plausible Basic D&D candidates. Just not familiar enough with the line. (Hopefully some other folks are!)

RPG Evolution: The Right to Archive

This is the factor @Stormonu was getting at, if I understand correctly. Doing right by creators is obviously the way to go, but it still has the consequence of making some re-releases prohibitively difficult or expensive. And for the corporations that own many old IPs now, that's enough to make...

    Maximum number of poll options?

This planned poll will, ideally, have well over 50 options when it's ready to go. So just checking (at @Lanefan's suggestion) whether there's a maximum number of options for polls on the site. I did just test and was able to add up to 101, so not too worried, but making sure whether I should...

Good point! I'll check. Though I'm sure I can find a way to make it work regardless.

    D&D General Discussion: 50 years, 50 publications

I had been sure Curse of Strahd would have been an early candidate for someone - it seems like the popular choice for best 5e adventure - but a day in and no one had added it! So I threw it in the latest heap of add-ons. Guess we'll see how it does in next week's poll, maybe I overestimate it...

RPG Evolution: The Right to Archive

Wow! That was quite an oversight! Same, that CD-ROM archive has been a super useful resource. And suspect you're right, this is likely part of why we haven't seen the pre-4e run of Dragon and Dungeon on DM Guild. (The Paizo era was available in PDF on their own site for a while, even into the...
