Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

The way people with dissenting opinions are being treated on this forum is totally civil, helpful, and improving the tenor of this board. It also ensures that threads stay on topic and don't degrade into the same useless arguments about who's "right" in matters of opinion that have been going on...

D&D General It's 2034, and the new PHB is in your hands.

Depends on what Disney does with the D&D brand after it buys Hasbro.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Invites You To Explore the World of Greyhawk

One of the first characters in our 2014 5e campaign was a dragonborn ancients paladin. Two of our brand-new-to-D&D players that joined later also made dragonborn (another ancients paladin, and an eldritch knight, respectively).

Is this still in the 2024 DMG?

D&D 5E (2024) What does the new DMG say about gods?

Honestly, I'm shocked that the new canon is making Iggwilv her default identity, rather than quietly erasing it in favor of 100% Tasha.

D&D 5E (2024) Did you make up your mind about 5.24?

For "remain quiet", that's true. Not so much "say you don't care for something".

D&D 5E (2024) Did you make up your mind about 5.24?

It should be, but that unfortunately doesn't seem to be borne out in practice. (Not on the internet, anyway.)

D&D 5E (2024) Did you make up your mind about 5.24?

I'm 99.999% decided against going with 2024 5e, based on the PHB and DMG information, since it gets rid of several things I liked about 2014 and doesn't offer me anything that compensates. The 0.001% chance I might change my mind depends on the Monster Manual... but what we know of it so far...

    D&D General 2024 Monster Creation

The monster making guidelines aren't in that part of the free rules, either. I mean, unless I'm missing something. @dave2008 says they're just gone from the free rules.

If those were in the free rules when you posted that, they're not now.

Best Horror Movies of All Time

FWIW, I think Shyamalan did a good job of building up tension when needed (including the scariest scene of someone walking past a doorway I'd ever seen).

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

IIRC in at least one version of Ravenloft, Strahd could enter any home in Barovia at will because he was the lawful lord (and not just darklord). EDIT: Semi-confirmed, that was the case in 2e's Domains of Dread, page 62. Though it's apparently because he's so bound to the land of Barovia, not a...

D&D General Help Me with My Pathological Aversion to Third Party D&D Products

Chains of Asmodeus (along with Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villainy) has the advantage of being officially a Wizards of the Coast product, while still third-party produced - if that helps make them more palatable to the third-party-averse.

And given enough time, if no one cares about a piece of art, who will bother to preserve it? Then it really will vanish.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I feel like this is the way in which New Coke is probably most instructive regarding changes in game rules, or replacing long-running characters/franchises with new versions, or such.

    D&D General 50 years, 50 publications - results

Yet more random comments: Just realized that Holmes Basic didn't make it into the top 50. In fact, it's the lowest-scoring initial rulebook, at 6 votes (the 3.5 and 4e PHBs are the next-lowest with 7 each). The highest-scoring general sourcebook (as opposed to core rulebook, introductory...
