For me, in a sea of cringe anime (unrealistic woman, harem BS, whiney/insecure protagonists, etc.), Cowboy Bebop stands out as being "cool". Easy to recommend to "normie" adults interested in anime. Also, that jazzy soundtrack and fighting animation is just perfect, haha.

I don't think so. Look, we all know that's 100% a man; that's kind of where the "hehe" part of this stunt comes from. To take this from a fun joke to official retcon is awkward, very unnatural, and is done to drive home a message and drum up controversary.

Natural, as in that group of developers just created what came naturally to them. Nothing grand in scope.
