I prefer a mix myself. Race/Species/etc are intrinsically different than humans physically which modifies stats accordingly, but Class/Background also plays a part in what those scores are as well. One of the reasons I'm so enamored with the PF2 system at the moment.

I think level-drain is cool as is, but would come up with a fun way to mitigate its effects, such as killing the creature "releases your xp back", lost levels are easier to gain back (4x bonus), or quest to obtain a Greater Restoration. Hate the idea of nerfing it officially or preemptively...

@SteveC Exactly why I wont back until I get to see the rules. Hopefully they'll release a quick-look with a one-shot adventure when they go live.

I wonder if that's why they brought on Shawn Tomkin (Ironsworn)? I'd imagine solo-RPGs need a lot of tables...

I know I've been critical of these covers in particular, but wanted to take a moment to say I like his work as well and is certainly a great artist.

Thanks for the name drop! I recognize the style from Dragon Age somehow. Not sure if TTRPG, comic, or game art...? Edit: Not the same person despite being very similar.

It's hard for me to tell, but seems the mind flayer is the one behind the hook horror/beholder ambush since it's looking up with purpose and anticipation? The lich lady looks like she's just photobombing to me, but suppose her prominent presence suggests she's the one orchestrating the entire thing?

I said yes. Story time! When I was younger (4-5), I woke up to see a strange kid in my living room playing with my blocks. When he saw me, he got up and ran towards our hall closet and went straight through the door! My parents woke up to the horrible racket of me tearing that closet apart...

Had a similar experience, but our professor's follow on question was, "How many of you saw it right before, during, or right after sleeping?" Think he was onto something since only one person lowered their hand...
