    D&D 5E (2024) New Optional Rules

I don't know what to call it but I'll go with heightened recovery vs standard recovery. The players and the game world operate under the assumption of standard recovery, which is akin to the slow resting variant rules. Each day acts as a short rest and a week is a long rest. I'm not married to...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part VII: Monks)

I do appreciate how straight forward it is. And unlike most monks it can actually afford to snag a feat. The loss of AC can be made up from Agile Parry or just hanging out at range.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part VIII: Mystic, aka Psion)

Order of the Avatar 20 Order of the Awakened 18 Order of the Immortal 18 + 1 = 19 Order of the Nomad 19 Order of the Soul Knife 20 - 2 = 18 Order of the Wu Jen 15 I'm remembering why I never got on board with the Mystic or psionics in general. That was a slog to read through.

Which game engine suits this best?

I ran a campaign using Cypher that was similar to your idea. It was a modern setting but involved hopping to other dimensions. I used the superhero rules for character building but would suggest you not try them if you aren't as familiar with the game. They can really break stuff in fun and not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Perfect spell designs

I'm a big fan of the summon spells. They come with the stat block in the spell so no need to look it up in other resources. One creature only so no dealing with 8 wolves, 4 bears, etc. No adjudication needed by the DM to determine what is actually summoned. That's a pain no one wanted...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part VI: Fighters)

My table tried the variant +2 to attack rolls for flank attacks for a while. It worked but also we stopped doing it because it got to be too much of the action. Just a big spinning wheel of moving around each other. Pegasus your table will like it better than mine. Advantage on damage does sound...

Is The Forum Getting More Antagonistic?

I've always basically understood what (+) threads mean but is there a definition for this site? Do mods watch them more closely and/or have a shorter leash for removing someone from the thread?

Is The Forum Getting More Antagonistic?

There are a few things you can do to help yourself if you feel like taking action: The ignore button is effective if there are one or two people that are ruining your experience regularly. You can always stop ignoring someone if you decide to later. I try to take a break from the site if I'm...

Is The Forum Getting More Antagonistic?

I've been hanging out here since mid-2020. It seems like it has more to do with a big change to the current edition of D&D than anything else. And I see @payn has beat me to that observation.

D&D 5E (2014) As DM do you ever take away or remove skill proficiencies?

No way. Do they think they keep the benefits from Devil's Sight, Gifts of the Deep, Agonizing Blast, etc. if they don't keep the Invocation? If they want those skills permanently they can actually use down time or take a feat to snag them.
