Defend the town, for the entire campaign

This is exactly the game I've been running since the release of 4E. The PCs begin as slaves, in a slave camp, deep in a massive, inhospitable forest. The beginning adventure was liberating themselves. Since then, they've been working to turn their camp into a town and defend it against all...

Do you not play WOW? Forked Thread: Wil Wheaton plays and reviews 4th.

All my friends play WoW, we have since the F&FA. We play all the time. In fact, probably at least two of my friends are on WoW right now. We're getting together this Sunday for an all-day RAID LAN. We all play D&D. Every week. In fact, we play everything. We play anything.

Any tips for Pyramid of Shadows? Any handouts?

I've been running this module for several weeks now. Here's what I've learned. This is a very Gygaxian dungeon, moreso than anything WotC has put out so far. By that I mean, it's a ton of discreet encounters, each with no rhyme or reason and little (but not "no") thought given to how these bad...

First PC Death in my 4e Campaign!

My players are going through Pyramid of Shadows, they are two levels too low, but have 2 to 3 too many PCs so it kinda balances out except not really. One PC died this week, but he died in the room that has a Raise Dead scroll in it, so its all good. :D

A player wants his pet baby phoenix to grow into a dragon . . .

This is a player archetype I've encountered before. Some players think that the draw of an RPG is getting to play characters they've loved and fantasized about. Interestingly, when I was at WotC I read their market data that included a questionnaire about different settings. The list of...

A player wants his pet baby phoenix to grow into a dragon . . .

I wouldn't even bat an eye. I'd say "Ok, it's a dragon." Hell, I'd let him play a Dragonborn too. I mean, there aren't dragonborn in my setting. But if it was obvious to me a player was going to be really unhappy unless he got to play a Dragonborn, I'd say "Ok, you're a Dragonborn" and make...

June 08 lvl 1 Campaign starters: What lvl are you now?

Same. 3rd. We've played every week, sometimes twice a week, but in 2 or three different games.

    Cleric Optimized For Healing

It seems like, at first level, there's not a lot of options for a Cleric to Heal his teammates. I made a new cleric and without really thinking about it, just took the suggested powers and feats from the Devoted Cleric build. But over the course of Combat, I found that I could basically heal 1...

Destructive Terrain and more dynamic battlefields

Not necessarily, it depends on how the wall reacts. If the creature transfers enough momentum into the wall, he'll be ok and the wall will take all his energy. If the wall doesn't budge, then the energy is basically reflected back into the creature and he takes the damage. This is why a...

    Character Sheet Archive

You get that thing finished and working and I'd shell out money for it. Meanwhile, I'm working on my own Filemaker Pro solution.

    Character Sheet Archive

Pfhoenix, I applaud your efforts because I think they're the most likely to result in the kind of e-sheet solution I've been looking for. What you've got here is awful nice. I like the fact that you've deliberately picked your battles about what to calculate and what to leave user-defined. I've...

Dynamic Excel "Wiesbaden Charactersheet" D&D (v1.11)

All I see on CharSheetII is "Viper's Strike." What we're looking for is; Viper’s Strike Warlord Attack 1 You trick your adversary into making a tactical error that gives your comrade a chance to strike. At-Will ✦ Martial, Weapon Standard Action Melee weapon Target: One creature Attack...

Dynamic Excel "Wiesbaden Charactersheet" D&D (v1.11)

I feel like I must be missing something here. Is there a way to get my Powers to show up on my character sheet, or is it presumed that you'll type it in yourself? Right now, character creation is so each my group aren't using this sheet because all they really need is something to calculate...

Dynamic Excel "Wiesbaden Charactersheet" D&D (v1.11)

Can someone post a finished character using this sheet? My group and I are having problems with it and it seems like we're hand-entering a lot of stuff I think the sheet is supposed to do for us.

Is there a reason you do not take a multi-class feat

The Cleric MC feat seems kinda ass, you don't get the divine power thing that unlocks...all the other cleric feats. :(

    D&D 4E 4e: Death of the Bildungsroman

I think I back WotC's decision to do away with the "you suck" levels. While I agree that there's a rewarding aspect to sucking for a while before you're mediocre, that rewarding aspect is not the same as "fun." Also, most of the stories of Young Arthur (or Skywalker, or Garion, or whoever the...

    Come back....

As an eager fan of 4E, I really have nothing to say until the game comes out. I know what I need to know, the excerpts have become kinda unnecessary. I already know I'm switching to 4E, so teasers don't help me. I need the rules. Until then...

Are you going to buy an EXTRA copy of the PHB?

I'm planning on getting three copies of each book. One for reference at home when I'm doing GM prep. One at the office I play at on Fridays and one at work, where I also run a game. I just don't like carrying books around.

'Dungeons & Dragons' fights for its future

Yes, but "D&D is obsolete because now there's WoW" is not journalism. No more so than the average thread in this forum is.
