    Desert setting music?

Peter Gabriel's soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ is the canonical answer. Peter Gabriel 01 The Feeling Begins - YouTube Tinariwen is also an excellent choice. TINARIWEN - walla illa - YouTube And, Huun-Huur Tur is AMAZING although Mongolian Steppe rather than desert. Their music...

    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing in Next

The Fighter 10/Wizard 1 challenge is good to use as an exercise. The Fighter 10 who takes Wizard 1 isn't doing so because he wants 1D4 damage every round. He's doing so because he wants to augment his Fighting in a Wizardly way. How you make that work, I don't know. I have some ideas, but...

GMs: What (across all editions) was your favorite adventure to RUN?

Hah! I ran that! I ran it for my coworkers at Pandemic and was somewhat alarmed that they hated it. :D They wanted grim and gritty and White Plume Mountain is somewhat...ahh, unrealistic? But *I* loved it, I thought it was a blast. Thanks for reminding me of that.

GMs: What (across all editions) was your favorite adventure to RUN?

Not *read*, but something someone else published, which you ran, and which you loved and would run again. Not even "finished," it's cool if you got halfway through and stopped for whatever reason. As long as you thought "Man this is awesome" while you were running it.

    Running X2 Castle Amber

Awesome! Castle Amber was the very very first adventure I ever played through back in 1986.

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

I think balance is really overrated, but you need something. Back in AD&D and AD&D2, the classes were not balanced in combat as they are in 4th ed, but none of us noticed. The Wizard could do a lot but he needed to be able to cover an extremely wide variety of situations. In other words, if...

    Favorite vs. Best Adventure Modules

I love Night Below, even though it falls apart about halfway through the second book.

If I could ask WotC for a few reasonable things...

Not me. I can't export entries as RTF, which means I can't use the Combat Manager. And the Combat Manager is, like, ridiculously useful.

If I could ask WotC for a few reasonable things...

Ptolus is an extreme example, but a real one. That book is phenomenally more useful on the iPad as a PDF.

If I could ask WotC for a few reasonable things...

That's your criteria? Either a product is objectively the best or no help from WotC? I think maybe you hyperfocused on an otherwise trivial phrase.

If I could ask WotC for a few reasonable things...

...this would be what I'd ask for. 1: The Character Builder. Allow anyone to make a character for free. Let people make a character without registering, without giving you their email. They can't save their characters, but so what? Let them make as many characters as they want, up to 3rd level...

Looking for old plaster 2x2 dungeon tiles.

I feel pretty certain we're talking about the same tiles, grodog. Hey, at least knowing what they're called might help future ebay searches! :D Thanks!

Looking for old plaster 2x2 dungeon tiles.

I have NO IDEA where my friend Jim got these, but they're at least 20 years old, possible 35 years old. Obviously I'm not talking about the Dwarven Forge tiles in the back. Those 2x2 tiles are awesome, they're painted plaster, he bought them somewhere, they come with those doorways and trap...

    Castle Whiterock Question

Got what I hope is a simple question because I'd like to run this in about 3 and a half hours. :D Reproduced here for reference purpose, at half-resolution, is a map of Level One. First Level. What I'm trying to figure out is; what am I looking at? Based on the description that path in the...

That's all the incentive I need! Looks like Smashwords is a good way to do it? I'll find out and report back. You must let me know what you think!

In Which I Promote My Book and share my Self-Publishing experience

Oh, something else I learned and forgot to mention that people might find interesting. You sell seven books in a week, and your book shoots up to #30,000 on the Paid Kindle Store. I found that sort of revealing.

In Which I Promote My Book and share my Self-Publishing experience

I wrote novel, a fantasy novel, available now via Kindle. It's hard for me to describe, probably because I'm so close to it, but it's sort of a tough-guy, hard-boiled, short, fantasy novel with a lot of character, dialog, and action. It's not long, between 300 and 350 pages and most people get...

    The top Avalon Hill boardgames...

Republic of Rome is a game I played a lot, but I'm not sure we ever finished a game and I don't ever remember having fun playing. I think every time we played it, it was purely for the challenge. History of the World I found a terrible game. Way too random, too easy for nothing that happens...
