How do you make Liches interesting?

You know, as I am bored and not doing much at the moment what kind of solo do you want and what level? I would be quite happy to make you a solo lich if you would like.

    What are themes?

If only I had a dollar for every time someone has said that. They really are a very natural feeling part of 4E and add to the heroic tier immensely. It really makes the first few levels feel a little less limited, while not dramatically affecting later tiers very much at all. It's one of the...

You Wanted Character Themes, You Got 'Em - Dragon 399 ToC

Themes are substantial mechanical crunch for all characters in 4E. This is far more important than most of the stuff that Dragon has been publishing for MONTHS now. I would sooner have themes than a near pure fluff article with a couple of garbage feats and a mediocre to terrible PP (which is a...

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

No, that wouldn't work either and still falls under the bag of rats rule. Also the rule was updated in the rules compendium much more clearly than in the DMG.

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

Yeah, in my experience disruptive strike is always around -5 at minimum, sometimes up to -9. Heck, I've seen that power on epic rangers it is that useful. It doesn't really matter what the penalty is, because even a -3 penalty is super damn good. Typically I see most rangers built to be purely...

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

Well, that's when we pull out the crazy bucket.

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

That actually is a really good point Colmarr, there is indeed very little point to using them in a smart way. The game directly rewards upping your DPR as much as possible, because as the old adage goes "The best condition to impose is dead". Indeed for many rangers, the point of stocking up on...

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

But not according to the rules they aren't (same with attacking allies for effects as well). The bag of rats rule is pretty clear on this: You wouldn't get any benefit or effect from the power.

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

I don't think you quite get what the concept is. If you prevent 10 HP initially on round 1, that's not going to do anything and the PC will get his next turn. A few rounds down the track after damage is inflicted, preventing 10 damage will give them their next turn. While not doing so will...

How do you make Liches interesting?

Just so you know, you never had to do this in the first place. You can give monsters any powers you feel like and there are monster powers that are *far* superior to any PC power. For example the Astral Kraken's pseudodominate that can make a PC use hurricane of blades on another PC is just...

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

Perhaps that is a question best submitted to Rule of Three? I'd love Eberron specific themes as well.

Do you remain Stealthed if you attack yourself?

You couldn't do that anyway Darklord, because you cannot gain the benefit of a powers effects or similar if the target isn't a significant threat (often called the "Bag of Rats" rule). Attacking yourself to get a powers effect is definitely under that provision.

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

Because saving the allies last 10 HP actually matters more, when it prevents them going unconscious. Saving their first 10 is irrelevant, because the useage there isn't when it's important (it might not even be on the ally that was going to go down) - it's just used purely to boost DPR. I don't...

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

No that wouldn't be very workable I feel Peraion Graufalke, because there are a lot of them and some of them aren't that bad to be honest. You'd need to do a lot of editing or make a huge chunk of them useless to make that work. I honestly think his solution is the best: Make the triggers...

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

Finally, for the first time in MONTHS and I mean MONTHS I have something unequivocally happy to celebrate. We are finally getting themes in the game as a whole. About damn time Wizards. I couldn't be more excited about this and can't wait to see them! I am most curious about the Outlaw and what...

    What's with this stealth errata?

The problem is that these changes should be announced clearly in an errata document: That's what I dislike. I think the flaming weapon should have been free errata somewhere, especially because while I own the DMs kit I did not closely read something I thought was reprinted from the PHB. I...

    Feats & Fighters

This argument would be valid if a great chunk of skirmishers didn't just outright ignore OAs with their movement or attack + movement powers in the first place. It also forgets that many lurkers have mechanics to turn invisible, which also lets them leave without provoking OAs. I mean your...

    Feats & Fighters

I personally feel that I've answered most of your points above, so I'm not going to rehash the same arguments repeatedly. I will comment on this however: Skirmishers will mock a knight all the way to level 30 if you don't. Taking an actual mark like this lets the Knight actually effectively do...

    What's with this stealth errata?

I was having a discussion with a friend about his paladin and various neat ideas he had, when I suggested that he takes the Cavalier Mount. This was published in a dragon article and at the time, was listed as a paladin utility 4 (which meant a regular paladin could take it eventually as well)...

    Feats & Fighters

It could also have been a 0% occurence when the mark wasn't there. When the power that missed was a stun or dominate (which is often the best time to use a shield or similar), it's effect on the entire combat means a lot more than the hit percentage would suggest. There is also the case of a...
