And there it is, what it boils down to ultimately. As long as it caters to you, nothing else matters. Got it.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Setting as Selling Point?

It depends on what WOTC does with its campaign settings this time around. Piazo's strengths, among them is the setting. Its large enough to fit into any kind of setting, or you can simple just use one small slice. And could fit any adventure anywhere. Its usuable in large world settings, or...

I'd expect RPG hobby to end up more like the model train one sooner rather than later. Specialized and not that large in comparison to other hobbies....

One can argue the same correlation for those that went with 4e and not pathfinder, and teh negativity and/or pessimissim towrds how well it may or may do. Uhm no. It wasnt a healthy run all the way up to 2000 and you know it. It limped crawled and was in a death throw there until WotC bought...

That depends on if they are retaining enough old guard, and conversely, converting new players who will stick with the game-or wil it be like game workshop new converts that they only retain them for 18 months....

Yeah this. As long as I can find gamers for 3.5/OGL/Pathfinder I'll keep playing. If all three die off, 4e or 5e will not get my partonagea nd I'll move on to a different hobby.

In general? Probably. Why? Because the fan base they will most piss off is the one the already wrote off....ie pathfinder players and 3PP followers.

Absolutely for deadlands. That was a great game...the d20 version just sucked in comparison.

Continuiously sue even if you cant win and bankrupt the other party or until they cant defend themselves anymore. Thats generally what larger corporations do. They do actually have to win. They just have to outlast the other party.

But in effect, WOTC DID create its own competitors via the GSL, for without it Pathfinder wouldnt have come about, among other things.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo sets price of Pathfinder RPG PDF at $9.99!!!!!

To echo Erik Mona AllisterH, where on earth do you get the assumption that some of us here are adverse to dead tree versions? While I have a bunch of subscriptions to Pazio with their products, and they come with PDF's, I have yet to really use the PDF's at all. Its a nice add on, but I'm print...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo sets price of Pathfinder RPG PDF at $9.99!!!!!

Or perhaps its as two of the folks have already said, and I'll reiterate myself: We have really really suck donkey rear FLGS that we probably wouldnt pee on if it was on fire, and would rather order it online...... I know the 2 "local" ones(local meaning its 45 minutes to an hour to get to)...

WotC 4E D&D bloat (was Forked Thread: Pathfinder (PFRPG) bloat)

The part that everyone seems to be leaving out of the "bloat" thread of 3PP is the fact that alot of game stores got stuck with stuff when Wotc went from 3.0 to 3.5....effectively killing the items on the shelves as well. Then it happened again when they went from 3.5 to 4e.....Last FLGS I...

WotC 4E D&D bloat (was Forked Thread: Pathfinder (PFRPG) bloat)

How is it going to be any different for retailers now with even just pure WOTC items? After 2-3 years release, a retailer will have what: 3 sets of core players, DM and MM books. plus what 27 more books of various types-adventure vault, draconmicon, etc..(9 per year) plus 3 sets of...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder (PFRPG) bloat (was Forked Thread: What exactly is OGL bloat?)

Dude, 4e is well on its way there already.....3core a year plus other books, at what one a month? Talk about bloat in two years....
  18. C

    What exactly is OGL bloat?

Good luck with that. even just t rying to limit it to WOtc only in 3.5 you STILL had a ton of books. And given that 4e is modeling itself as everything core, your going to have the same bloat in rather quick fashion.....another year or 2 is going to have a metric ton of books...... *shrug*...

How long until game stores are gone?

Thats what trial periods are for. *shrug* We had a very dynamic group of 7-6 plus DM, and then one guy moved due to work. It was the third guy that ended up staying as the players voted him in. The first one didnt keep up with the online dynamic. The second was disruptive, but seemed ok and...

How long until game stores are gone?

Not really. Having bought miniatures for decades, its much easier with the internet. I can see them quite well on pictures and home pages of the manufacturers, and there are plaenty of discounters online that I can get miniatures from without ever going to a gamestore. I can find miniatures...
