    The iPhone Will Kill D&D

Perhaps, but only if the game system is complex. I have the Swords & Wizardry, Labyrinth Lord and OSRIC rulesets in my phone, in editable text. I'm ready to roll.

    Weaning Off the Sauce

You're the ideal WotC customer, CardinalXimenes! Many of us are attached to the principle that the manufacturer of the game should be a responsible and considerate member of the gaming community. But we got shafted by TSR, WotC and doubtless by whoever comes next. Back to the freeware OD&D...

    I love D&D!

I love D&D, which is why I feel exaggerated pessimism or optimism at the slightest change to the status quo!

The Real Reason(s) Behind the PDF Debacle

Publishing PDF editions does nothing to increase piracy. People were simply scanning the print books before and making them freely available.

Forked Thread: [Ryan Dancey's D&D Death Spiral] - D&D doomed to cult status?

I think WotC's plan was to move its M:tG audience straight into D&D and create an immediate new generation of roleplayers. That audience fits into a younger demographic base, which is why 4E contains so many "contemporary" features.

    Thank you, Dave.

    Metric & Markets

But the American system also calls 100 000 a million, I believe, which confuses me no end.

    Metric & Markets

I wasn't expecting so many in-depth replies. Thanks muchly. Clearly, the market differences would have to be huge to justify multiple print runs, but I'm impressed that the Portuguese editions were actually worth running in metric. I see the point regarding the olde worlde feel of Imperial...

    Pray for Dave Arneson!

I'm hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst. Good luck, Dave.

What do you think the new setting will be, from Ampersand?

What if the new setting is the World of World of Warcraft, just to complete the synthesis with 4E?

    Metric & Markets

Outside America, only two demographic groups are familiar with the Imperial system of measurement: octogenarians and gamers. Gaming's popular in Europe and Australasia, so why are games there published with system of measurement that is both redundant and illogical? The general assumption is...

    Tact-Tiles: The End

I voted for "I'd by both clear and light gray 1" hex", but I wish there was an option for "it's 2009. Why are RPGs still using Imperial measurements?"

    Swords & Wizardry?

I'm moving from 4E to S&W ASAP. Just have to tidy up my current campaign.

Penny Arcade on 4e Naming Conventions

So true. But that's what happens when a company decides its target market is emo teenagers rather than the people who supported its product for four decades. Admin here. There are a lot of problems with this post, and I don't like any of them. In the future, please don't take cheap shots at...

D&D Miniatures Players around Somerset Tasmania

Not the thread topic, but what's the gaming population like in Tas? If I move to Hobart am I likely to find a group?

    History, Mythology, Art and RPGs

Great thread, Galloglaich. I haven't read the whole thing, so I might be late with this one, but I'm going to throw in Henri de Monfried (1879-1974). Smuggler, pirate, spy and conman.
