    Your ideal setting

My ideal setting is custom made with a lot of input from the players. A custom made race, new villages and cities, different cosmology, different deities, different role of said deities, eccentricities not found in the usual dnd setting (like specific fighting styles that aren't found in the...

Racial Feats - the Good and the Bad

But aren't those exceptions? One would expect that a race feat would use something common to the race. Something more general. Compare it with the other racial skills for example. The Tiefling feat not only gives the Tiefling powers with almost every single class (assuming he has the right...

Racial Feats - the Good and the Bad

This still does not solve the main problems. The Racial feat becoming useless at higher levels (which is against 4 ed design philosophy as I know it) and inferior to similar main feats and the feat simply not playing to the Eladrins strong points. According to Raw Eladrin are best at being...

D&D 4E Handling things like Riding and Craft with 4E Skills.

Hmm, another use for the Jack of trades feat.

Racial Feats - the Good and the Bad

Is it me, or do some races get screwed when it comes to Feats? Humans, get wonderful feats, perhaps even the best racial feats. One of the best features of Human feats is that they're not only effective, but they're effective throughout the game. You'll be using an action point quite regulary...

    Why do Orcs get Intimidate?

Well, as long as you remember that hostile targets get a +10 to their willsave. Apparently it's easier to intimidate your friends.

    "You possess a spellbook."

Well, the Fighter and the Paladin have ridiculously cheap armour. Oh wait, here's something. Rituals are usually used for the whole party. And unless the party has some separate funds especially for making rituals that benefit the party as a whole (rather then the Wizards voyeuristic...

    "You possess a spellbook."

Except of course that for Wizards spell and ritual book are one and the same.

    Melnoboneans and Elves

Actually I was joking when I mentioned that last post ;) I was giving Tieflings one last mock for the road. I'm going to have to be very clear on the Melnibonian psyche though, including that "good" Melniboneans do exist, even if they are rare. I'm going to have to read the Elric saga once more...

    Sun Rods are awesome!

Ditto. Especially to limit magical items. "This world doesn't have as much magic as it used to, it is fading through the centuries to only a fraction of its former power. Oh, you wanted to know where they were having the sale on sunrods? Well, take your second left..." Limiting magical items...

    Doomsayer (Warlock Paragon) question...

I'm afraid that the paragon path isn't that good. In a previous thread on this same subject I believe house rules were proposed.

    DMing Gender?

Guess who I'm paraphrasing. Roleplaying a woman is easy, simply take a man, and then take away all reason and accountability. Seriously though it's not terribly hard, although you might not want to do it *too* well. I did that once and it really scared one of my players.

    Melnoboneans and Elves

Perhaps yes, perhaps no, but this doesn't change the fact that Melniboneans seldom care about what the world thinks of them for past "crimes" and I don't think they look so kindly to other Melniboneans called themselves "Charity". I'm pretty sure they've invented special tortures just for such...

What not yet published concept are you hoping for?

I would like a Necromancer as well, it's such an interesting archetype.

    Melnoboneans and Elves

At least one of my players is completely and utterly tone deaf. Having them sing would cause me to drop off my chair convulsing in laughter. Besides which they don't read Moorcock so they don't need to forget anything. Hell, I don't think most read Tolkien either.

Does anyone actually like Dragonborn and Tieflings?

Glad to be of service :p

    Melnoboneans and Elves

This is turning out to be very tricky. Let's see... enhance the fey qualities of the Eladrin and bring them closer to the Elves. Make the difference between the two less genetic and more social. If a child from Eladrin parents were raised by Elves they would have Elf characteristics and visa...

Does anyone actually like Dragonborn and Tieflings?

Dragonborn and Tieflings just don't do anything for me. It's not because they're not archetypical, but they just don't do anything for me. I find the idea of Tieflings too Catholic in many ways. Not the amusing way as done in Hellblazer but simply boring. I don't like the "oh we're bad because...

    Melnoboneans and Elves

Well, I'm curious, how are they alike? I mean Eladrin miss the whole corruption theme. They're also not outsiders and didn't get kicked out of anything. I don't see any real connection between Tieflins and Draenai, please explain?

    Melnoboneans and Elves

I've decided to replace Tieflings with Melniboneans in my campaign. However, this leaves me with a worry, are Melniboneans too much like Eladrin?
