Dragon 364 News at Gleemax [merged]

agreed and what I was trying to say earlier about how much I use to frequent their site...now I don't even bother until someone posts here about an article. Eventually people will stop posting that a new article has appeared...and I will miss it and not even care...

Dragon 364 News at Gleemax [merged]

I have to say I am totally unimpressed with WotC's dragon and dungeon. I use to go to WotC's site daily...now I don't even visit it weekly. They are really going to have to become more reliable and have better material before I'll be paying. I'll have high expectations for the Demonomicon...

    PDAs/SmartPhones and Gaming...

I have not seen them to be useful. I've kept NPC stats on them, rolled dice with them, and referenced the SRD with them...but laptops or tablets are much more useful. I have seen them to be a distraction though. I've seen lots of players surfing the web or playing other games with them...

Yet Another Benefit of Playing D&D: Dealing with Problem Board Members

If I had not had a Ms McDuff with me, I would have been toast. it was pre 3rd ed...but if converted, their CRs were way over my level...it was not a balanced encounter. But the encounter with Ms McDuff definitely left me more experienced by the next morning. I didn't know that. That was...

Dexter's alignment (possible spoilers- discussing seasons 1&2)

I get that feeling too...it must have been a big loss for him when his dad died. His dad being the only person he could talk to about the 'feelings' he was having. Whenever he is talking to his victims he usually is trying to understand his inner demons or expose theirs. (I'd don't...

    Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites (SPOILERS)

I finally watched it last night... it was ok. Interesting all the hook ups happening...2 sets of couples already! I guess even Favs are entranced by Favs. Exile island looks more steamy....or seemly... I bet the fans are going to be either happy or annoyed that Fairplay is gone...annoyed...

Yet Another Benefit of Playing D&D: Dealing with Problem Board Members

I could have used some of these when I was handed an accountant manager with no IT background who oversaw the reduction of our group from 60 IT support staff to 15. One employee had a heart attack and another was put on heart medicine under her rule. I developed ergo issues related to...

    Best ever Dragon issues?

I am sure you already know this....but you are old. Old as dirt. Mountains named you. The primordial ooze that spawned all life calls you daddy... Seriously...I don't even know what the Strategic Review issues look like...nor what is in them...

Help me pick out a setting book to purchase

I'd recommend Ptolus and Pathfinder. Both are good tweaks on the standard D&D setting without ruining the feel and both are very fun to read! I'd recommend Scarred Lands, but I've never played in it, only read. Still it is fairly good. The material from a writing POV might not be as good though.

    Best ever Dragon issues?

Agreed. I love the Demonomicon and Core Belief articles. Though not Dragon, I'd toss in the DungeonCraft articles from Dungeon as well. Re Dragon Mag CD: it was the best buy I ever made and I've loved it since it came out....too bad they couldn't continue selling it as I think most gamers...

Dexter's alignment (possible spoilers- discussing seasons 1&2)

He does one 'good' act frequently...he buys donuts....breakfast for the kids....snacks for work. He goes out of his way for that...spending money and devoting time. Definitely 'good qualities' He helps out Rita frequently...leaving work to help...donating a car.....etc (the first part is...

Grey morals from the other side

Seconded. Recently I had a DM for whom I should not have taken one point in Diplomacy or Bluff...because it was always going to end in a dead match fight. The only reason skill checks mattered was because the DM would reveal more information the higher we rolled...it was still going to be a...

I can remember as a kid totaling up everything I spent on AD&D 1st ed, basic, expert, etc and at the time it came up to $2,500+....my mom's response when I told her: "DO NOT TELL DAD!"

Book lovers - what do you look for in an author's website?

I think you just described a site that someone could deep dive into...as long as the material is good.
