    Today I learned +

I've done extensive research into this, and I emphatically refute this. Too much sunshine while you're drinking sangria, however, that's a different matter.

The Black Forest isn't a forest. It's a mountain range.

    Furry Lord of the Rings

Wasn't there already a meme with Miss Peggy as Eowyn? "But moi is not a man. Hiyaa!"

    How halfling society works

I remember at school, being told that peasants had to tithe 10% of their income to the local lord, and how the whole class was outraged. Now I look back and think, "I could stand to live with a 10% tax rate..."

    How halfling society works

"Ring-giver" is the term mostly used in Old English, if I remember rightly. Golden rings and armbands being a great way to keep your wealth secure on your person. But don't forget the feasting: that's why Hrothgar built Heorot, as a place to feast his people. The fact that Grendel interfered...

D&D General Coinage as Dragon Scales

Years ago I introduced a baby dragon into my campaign that needed to eat gold in.order to mature and grow. The party started to dislike it very quickly.

Spoilers TV Shows with Great Endings

Yes, Minister had a perfect ending in that it became Yes, Prime Minister. Friends did quite well. Boston Legal was good, if slightly unsatisfactory.

Blackadder: definitely. All the more amazing because, apparently, it was a spur of the moment we-have-to-come-up-with-an-ending thing. Due South ended pretty well. Burn Notice too, although it could have ended on season sooner.

    D&D General African D&D

Cool! I have the core book and Ancestral Vault, and mined both extensively when one of my campaigns found itself in Africa (leaving a trail of destruction in it wake).

    D&D General Deleted

I base my paladins on the Church Knights in the Elenium books by David Eddings: warriors trained in battle and magic specifically to protect humanity from supernatural evil. The mundane evils of the world aren't a concern for my paladins. Sure, they might not be happy with thieves or corrupt...

    A question about Highlander

Thanks for the replies, people! I'm glad to see that there isn't a clear answer - makes me feel better about the hour I wasted yesterday pondering the question.

    A question about Highlander

It's been a few decades since I saw the movie, but this morning I was listening to Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever?" and a thought struck me. These immortals spend hundreds or thousands of years fighting each other until only one remains. That one last immortal is given a gift: mortality...

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

This whole discussion is pointless, because the character - male or female - isn't a warrior. As anyone who's ever played BECMI should know, they're a fighter.

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

I'm surprised no-one brought it up before now. Like you say, the outrage.
