D&D 5E (2014) World Building: Commerce and gold

There were instances when feudal (or feudal-ish) governments imposed price caps on goods, particularly farm produce, and on movement of people. This usually happened in times of upheaval: disease, famine. England and Spain, at a minimum, did this on occasion.

D&D 5E (2014) World Building: Commerce and gold

If you want verisimilitude, don't be afraid to go gonzo. Look up Sergius Orata, for instance. Around 100 BCE, he developed oyster beds near Naples on an industrial scale, then used his profits to invent the heated swimming pool. He bought up properties and installed his pools and sold them on...

D&D General So what is high level play like?

Yup. In 2E, level 11-13 was about the max before the XP requirements became so awful that you'd play for two years before advancing. I've DM'd up to around level 16-17 in 3.5, and that required more effort than I cared to put into the game. Our group's other DM absolutely loves high levels, and...

What etiquette rules do we assume is common in the community?

Sure. But it's not my groups' mode. That doesn't mean that we "don't really understand what a TTRPG is."

What etiquette rules do we assume is common in the community?

I've been playing for nearly 40 years. Never once has it devolved into a "cooperative storytelling game". We roll dice and pretend to kill elves. If a player wants a character with a joke name, so what?

D&D General LotR and Forgotten Realms mashup - your thoughts?

"One does not simply walk into Mordor. One must first travel to Faerun and gain 20 levels. Then one can walk wherever one wishes. Or teleport. Or planeshift."

Star Wars: Ahsoka - Official Teaser Trailer

Not bad. Not sure it adds much compared with the previous trailer, except the explicit reference to Thrawn.

D&D 5E (2014) Wild Speculation: Athas, the World Without Dragons

Athas and Tenerife... actually quite similar. Lots of bald, muscled blokes looking for a fight, grizzled people focused on their single purpose, street markets where strangers try to rip you off, and of course dragon trees!
