Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

My honest guess is that the DLC is going to look a lot like this: https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/settings/SRC-00125 Adventure seeds, a few unique monsters, maybe a magic item or two. A dozen or so pages of hyperspecialized content. Vampire adventures in the Forgotten Realms is just the...

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

Easy for you if your sales are supporting that kind of cost increase, but when D&D books run 400+ pages and cost $70 per pop, I will start looking for alternate methods of acquisition.

Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

Drive Thru (well, DMs Guild) feels more like Nexus Mods than dlc, but your point stands. This is going to be a few online supplements (a la the Mortuary) that assumes you have the FR books in addition to the PHB.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

Magic ABSOLUTELY needs the LGS for pre-release, tournaments, and the most popular formats (Modern and Commander) that aren't supported by Arena. By contrast, most TTRPGs are played in private venues (homes or the like) not in public spaces. There is a reason why MTG support for LGS has been top...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Well if it was lame, aren't you glad they didn't continue it? "The food here is terrible and the portions are too small" vibes.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

So essentially another starter/game box set with a tie in to the show. Not what I expected, but happy for people who want this. But at least the mystery is solved.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

We already know that Game Informer is going to feature the Forgotten Realms books coming in November. So they are already hyping November's releases next month and not even announced the title of the October book? Unlikely.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

As an addendum: WotC has been fighting the idea that they are abandoning physical books for digital only since before 2024 was released. Kobold Press even tried to sell TotV on the idea WotC was going to stop selling books in favor of dlc micro transactions and online only access. And the first...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

Let's look at the scenarios: 1. WotC releases FotA as promised, with the defective cover. Reaction: "WotC has zero quality control. They are cutting corners to pump out cheap products. The books are defective as a way to lead people to digital purchases." 2. WotC releases FotA digital, delays...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

The issue with that was they would have been doing some marketing for it by now. They would want a heads up to get presales and news articles going. The dead air means that the decision to pull it came a lot longer back than this Friday.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

The October book would have to be finished by now and we have heard hide nor hair on it. I'm guess is that it was quietly delayed until 2026.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

The Lorwyn MtG set was moved from Q3 2025 to Q1 2026. If the book was supposed to release with the set, it would make sense to move the book. I've always thought that the time frame for the horror UA to print for October was very tight. The fact that they had to do another take on hexblade means...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

Sorta. The Deck itself has print issues and it was the premiere part of the package, not the book itself. So while the game rules book (the one with monsters, maps and options) was released early, the main attraction (the cards and the lorebook attached to them) were still only available in...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

Same. I'm contacting my players to desperately figure out if we're going to delay the start, run something else, or start with limited and crippled options.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

No. But the fact that we should have heard something about it's existence by now is indication that it's not happening this year. They are ramping up the marketing on the Starter Set and beginning to promote the Forgotten Realms books in November. The October book still doesn't have a title...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

So apparently the October book is off the release schedule. I think that proves it was MtG and not Ravenloft and the Eberron delay shows that October book needed to be ready yesterday for it to get released. Guess we'll see it in 2026...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

Could you imagine the "WotC is delaying the printed version to force us all to buy D&D Beyond" backlash? I'm upset, but there was no way to give Digital a head start and not face criticism. They have to delay everything.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

I'd like to think we don't, but people always try to put things in boxes and label them (for example, planetouched to refer to anyone who has ancestry from another plane. A tiefling who comes from a long line of tieflings is planetouched, a Khorvar who has elf parents who are eladrin or astral...

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

Unfortunately, almost any term is poisoned due to long systemic issues with intermarriage. Humans don't have breeds. There is no other sentient creature left we can interbreed with. All human differences are within 1% distance genetically. The only language we have to even express the difference...
