    Rule "Yes"

Of course not however they all touch on the same issue, the ability of the player to have input into the game. Its a difference in play style. As a player, you want to be entertained by the GM and to have input into the game only through your character. This would be exceptionally dull to...

    Rule "Yes"

I dont know for cerrtain what he meant but I think it gels with some of the things we do in our game. Some examples: 1. Each player effectively makes the decisions about the society, culture and morality of their chosen race. If two players choose the same race then they can come from the...

Bow Ranger....most powerful class in the game?

It is only really an issue if your combats take place on a flat featureless plain. Terrain makes all the difference. It is however tricky to pin down a bow based ranger which is, I think, as it should be.

DM's are Producers, Players are Consumers

Every game my current group has played in the last 8 years (since it formed) has involved co-operative world building between players and GM. The current game I am GM'ing was mostly written by the players.

    Mundane vs. Fantastical

I think we are talking past each other here. I am not suggesting that Conan contains some of the more Gonzo elements of rpg's. I am suggesting that the occurence of mundane animals is unusual. There is a wide gulf between fantastic and gonzo. My main Conan reference is the recent compiled...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

Doesnt Aravis have 7th level spells? I was always under the impression that by this point standard operating procedure fro your average group of (justifiably) paranoid high level adventurers was to always sleep in a MMM.

D&D 4E Revisiting an old question: 4E Liker - anything you worry about?

We find using poker chips for marks, quarry etc works well. Tracking conditions has been a bit of a pain but we are about to start using different coloured tiddly winks.

    Rule "Yes"

This I agree with 100%. "Yes but" or "Yes and" I try to make my standard responses both during character creation and at the table. Of course it helps having players at the table I have gamed with a long time, who I trust and who I socialise with beyond just gaming.

    Mundane vs. Fantastical

You may want to read the books rather than just watching the films. While Conan fights a lot of men there are also great hordes of demons, giant serpents, devolved humans and other monstrasities. About the only thing he fights which might be called a "normal" animal is the occasional giant...

    Rule "Yes"

Personally I find my game is likely to be more enjoyable if the preponderance of it involves things my players think are interesting and fun rather than things I think they will think are interesting and fun. Also, this issue has nothing whatsoever to do with "hack and slash" versus...

Forgotten Realms Player's Guide in the UK?

I ordered mine from Leisure Games. They are getting their stock on 01.10.

    Mundane vs. Fantastical

Personally it still hasnt moved far enough and the move it has made is a good thing. More Elric, Conan and Ffarhd please, less being mauled in the woods by common animals while you take a leak.

    Rule "Yes"

Actually I will go several stages further. I routinely give my players narrative control during the game. If a player asks if there is a contact to his old guild in town I turn the question back on him. Is there a contact, if so tell me who he is and why he is here. Give me a quirk or an...

    Rule "Yes"

To me its the biggest benefit of creating the setting co-operatively. The majority of in game problems would be solved by three very simple things: 1. Talking about the game you want to play beforehand 2. Creating the characters together, not just mechanics but story 3. Playing with people you...

    Rule "Yes"

Aah, I remember it now. It makes a lot of sense.

    Rule "Yes"

Can you provide a page reference? Also, how would you react to a player wanting to detail say, the beliefs and structure of his church, the organisation of the Wizards Guild he is a member of, the smugglers in the city he used to work for or his old mercenary company? That sort of stuff is...

    Rule "Yes"

I advise finding better players. It solves most of these issues. Page reference? I have read the DMG and dont remember anything like this. If it was there I might well be tempted to applaud it. The idea of the Viking Hatted GM ruling by dictat from his Ivory Tower is one that needs to die...

Adventurer's Vault - What do you think?

Personally I was stunned at this wholly unexpected revelation. Annoyingly I am still waiting for my copy. Availability in the UK seems to have been patchy with Leisure Games not even getting their copies until tomorrow.

    Rule "Yes"

+1 While not specific to 4e this is probably the first version of D&D to explicitly articulate the issue. Its a common concpet in a lot of indie games.
