    Monster Reskinning

My group is now level 5. In their last encounter (against a dragon in an old abandoned temple) they retrersted part way through the fight down a narrowish corridor. The dragon brought the door lintel down and moved off to recover from some of its wounds nicely breaking the fight in two. The...

They are still there, just in the PHB now.

    Monster Reskinning

All of the time and very well. My players much prefer monsters where they dont know whats going to happen. It adds to the suspense.

1E vs Forked Thread: Is 4E doing it for you?

While I am no great fan of 3e this isn't particularly true. If you look at the common 3.x core feats, stuff like improved trip, unarmed strike, sunder, disarm etc none of these feats are required to do these things. In general feats made you better at options which were otherwsie available in...

1E vs Forked Thread: Is 4E doing it for you?

I suggest that you read the 4e DMG advice on saying yes. Also, rolling dice does not invalidate or prevent players coming up with clever plans or interesting choices. You complain about people bringing up nostalgia and rose tinted glasses and polemical cliche and then accuse 3e of brainwashing...

Unhappy w/4E monster manual..3PP pls. publish monster books pronto!!

4e monsters are ridiculously easy to reskin into different forms. Simply decide what sort of monster type and level you want, pick an equivalent one out of the book, reflavour its powers and away you go. Personally I would have been just as happy if the MM had a handful of example monsters in...

D&D 4E Is 4E doing it for you?

Yeah, randomly rolled stats combined with pretty stringent stat pre requisities for a number of classes certainly lets the players make the characters they want to play... *rolleyes*

D&D 4E Is 4E doing it for you?

It works extremely well for my group who have spent the last 6 years playing RP heavy games of Buffy, Pendragon and Spirit of the Century. We played 3.0 for a couple of years after its release before moving on to other games (or areas for some of us). Most of my players missed the entirety...

You realise its happened at least one before right?

D&D 4E Greyhawk 4e: Back to the Beginning...

This sounds very much like wishful thinking to me. Personally I think it would be a retrograde step. I know the Wars were never popular with a lot of GH fans but I thought it was the most interesting thing to ever happen to the setting. Some of it was overdone but at least the setting felt...

    FRCG - Primordials

Essentially yes. The fluff in the book sets out how the gods and primordials went at each other at the beginning of time arguing over who got to rule the roost. AO came in and seperated them between Abeir and Toril as they couldnt play nice with each other. Somehow the elemntal lords got...

Forked Thread: How difficult are 3.xE characters to create?

After class, PRC and feat choices the biggest time sink I found was always choosing gear. If you were starting at higher level, especially if you were a caster with crafting feats and even more so if you were making custom stuff gear choice could take ages.

    DM/Player participation

My players are as involved in the game setting, maintenance and creation as I am. We run a homebrew which came about last year one afternoon when we were all bored at work and decided on a "create a setting" thread on our gaming message board. It was originally generated as a possible...

4E D&D - Are you playing already (or ever)?

I own the books and am currently running a Conan inspired sword and sorcery game, details in my sig. It works perfectly for my group who come with a definate narrativist slant. They havent played D&D for the last 6 or 7 years.

    Forgotten Realms 4e reviews?

I disagree. From what I have seen the 4e realms seems to have much more in common with the feel of the old 1e boxed set than the rather over stuffed 3e version. That to me is a good thing.

    Forgotten Realms 4e reviews?

From what I have read about it so far it is mainly mechanics free. I think there are a few monsters, the odd statted npc but not much more.

Where the Forgotten Realms lost me...

From the reviews I have read so far it seems that the FRCG is pretty much heavily filled with plot ideas and adventure hooks. Personally I will take that any day over a book which is mostly just lore which is unlikely to ever be used.

Where the Forgotten Realms lost me...

Surely as you have "made the Realms yours" (something I recommend doing if you are using any campaign setting) then no new version would actually be acceptable. Any new version is going to contradict what you have done within your game and no one would expect you to retroactively change things...
