    Will you buy 4th edition?

    Absolutely!! Good one!

    Will you buy 4th edition?

I probably will not buy 4th edition, but I will hold out final judgement until I see it. The game is not the same, despite what the stupid French-guy said in the Youtube video. That is okay, but I see some of the drastic changes they are making with regard to races, classes, feats, skills, and...

Which is more vital to the party?

These are my sentiments exactly, although considering the cohort's position, it might not be a bad idea to have a bard or healer instead. My general rule of thumb is a bard is good as a 5th or 6th PC, because it's all about support. Jack-of-all-trades but master of none.

    Painting Miniatures Guide

Pogre: Excellent list you put together. I might have missed it, but another site for listing miniature painting sites is http://miniature-painting.net/links_painting.html They have weblinks to many of the same sites you mentioned and then some. -collin ;)

    Gem Dragon: How to Paint?

amethyst There is another solution, although not an easy one. IF you can find some of the old Citadel/Games Workshop paints, the ones in the taller, slender bottles, they used to have a paint called amethyst purple. It was a metallic purple color, and I have used it on rare occasions...

    Help Describe Greyhawk (seriously)

Actually, there are many similarities between the Realms and Greyhawk. But whereas FR was specifically created to be a D&D fantasy world, GH started out as simply a setting for miniature wargaming and over time was adapted to the role-playing setting. One way to approach this might be to do...

If you could choose ONE non-d20 game to play, which one would it be?

My first choice is the HERO system because you can make it into anything you want. I played my first Champions game back in 1982. A close 2nd is PEG's Savage Worlds, because it is fast, easy, and again, you can make it into anything you want. -collin

If you could try a RPG that ISN'T D&D...

A couple games I haven't seen mentioned here are: Savage Worlds: I would like to try their new Necessary Evil game - I played it at GenCon in August World War II Heros: I believe this is from Steel Magic Studios. Looks very compelte and realistic, using d20. -collin

Have the third-party d20 publishers failed?

I think this subject could be expanded to an even greater question: have game-publishers failed? Where are the really hot new games for the next 3-4 years? It's all rehash, tweaking, etc. Another card game, another miniatures game - so what? Where's the next new exciting RPG or HeroClix or...

Do you use accents/"funny voices" when playing your PC?

Since 3.0 came out and getting back into D&D, I have taken to creating charcters with other people or characters in mind. For example, my first one was a half-orc fighter named 'Hawk', (see avatar icon) from the Robert B. Parker "Spenser" novels, so I tend to use Avery Brooks' voice when I play...

What was the best moment of Gen Con for you?

For me, my best moment at Gen Con this year (my first, surprisingly) was getting to RPG using the Savage Worlds system and not just read and hear about it. BTW, if you are into superhero role-playing, I highly recommend checking out Necessary Evil coming from Pinnacle/Great White games in...

How do you introduce third party sourcebooks into a campaign?

Whoever finds something from another source brings it into the group and we discuss it. Generally we come to a group consensus as to what is allowable and what isn't, but ultimately our DM has the final say.

    Poll: Best movie trilogy

Trilogy films Some tough choices here, but I also am going with LotR. Star Wars would have been no. 1 for me if the 3rd movie had not been such a let down. As for the new Star Wars trilogy, well, let's just say I wouldn't even consider it in the list. :p

Talk about your Eberron character concepts

It's funny you mention the ranger/master inquisitive as a take-off of Spenser from the Parker novels because my original D&D 3.0 character is a take-off of Hawk. He's a pure neutral fighter/rogue half-orc. See picture icon of him next to this message. I think that would be a great idea. I...

    What's the deal with half-orcs?

Half-orcs Half-orcs are not used a lot in the more recent campaigns I have been in (3.0 release till now), but the first character I created in D&D 3.0, and still have, was/is a half-orc fighter. I created the character based on the character of "Hawk" (which happens to be his name) from the...

    The HERO System

V and V I liked the modules better than what HERO would publish for Champions (e.g. Dr. Apokalyps island vs. Dr. Destroyer) but I found the game system suffered from the very thing I hated about most role-playing games, and that is that there was TOO much randomness to it. I prefer to create a...

Selecting the Best Red Dragon Miniature - lil' help here please

I'm putting my vote in for Marthrangul, as well. I have a friend who was commissioned to paint that dragon for a gamer. Looks too cool to pass up, and for the price, I don't think you're going to do any better. :D
