Snarling Wolf Stance = negates melee attacks for an encounter?

That seems most reasonable to me. That's how I'd rule it. So, IF you manage to kill the attacker with your OA from this power, then you can invalidate the triggering attack. If not, you're still taking the damage, even if you shift away. (Although this does raise the possibility of various...

Dragon mag Ampersand #387: Dark Sun creatures, Castle Ravenloft game

The Castle Ravenloft game looks really cool. I stopped buying new D&D books over a year ago (DDI subscription is enough for me), but I'll buy that board game for sure. Which I think will make it the first board game I've purchased . . . ever? Looks fun!

How to resolve multiple "at the start of your turn" effects and miss damage

Yeah, I don't find any compelling reason to believe that it must be an ordered list. I'd be inclined to read it as simply a list, with no specific directive that it must be followed in the order that it is presented.

Snarling Wolf Stance = negates melee attacks for an encounter?

When reading the rules, it is often possible to interpret specific cases like this in more than one way, depending on how you choose to look at it or apply the nuances of the text. I find that when there is more than one possible interpretation that could be reasonably argued for based on "RAW"...

NAD - which one is attacked the most ?

For kicks, I just went through all of Keep on the Shadowfell and Prince of Undeath (the lowest and highest level published 4E modules, respectively) and added up all of the creatures/traps that attacked each defense. Interesting results. In Keep on the Shadowfell (the revised version), I found...

How to resolve multiple "at the start of your turn" effects and miss damage

Interesting points, keterys. In that case, I'd say that it's fine to just let the player (or DM in the case of NPCs) choose the order of operations for start of turn effects.

How to resolve multiple "at the start of your turn" effects and miss damage

There doesn't seem to be any reason not to simply say that all start of turn effects happen simultaneously, and don't invalidate each other. If I have 3 hit points, and at the start of my turn I'm going to take 5 damage AND heal 5 damage, it seems simple to me to say that I get that damage and...

    Dark Sun previews

At first I was like, "What the heck, a sorcerer-king isn't a solo?" But then I thought about it, and I guess it makes sense that only a FULL dragon, like "the Dragon", Borys, would be a solo, and the sorcerer-kings who are still trying to become dragons would only be elites. That works for me...

Game Fundamentals - The Illusion of Accomplishment

(emphasis mine) I liked this whole post a lot, and thought you had some very interesting things to say. I didn't entirely understand what you meant by the bolded phrase above, though, and I'd really like to. Could you explain that in greater depth, please?

Players: Does anyone else not mind railroading?

I don't mind that at all, and in fact I greatly prefer it, most of the time. As long as the story is COOL, and the train is headed to Awesome Town.
