Should feats be open or class specific?

Well, I personally want to be at least moderately good at my favorite hobby, even if I don't gain anything from it. But in-game that's hardly the case if for example my Perform (Song) skill modifier is -1. :/ It's one thing wanting to do something just for fun, and another wanting to do it...

Should feats be open or class specific?

And I didn't. Except it is true. you tend to want your PC to be optimal, because he has to survive somehow, thus you pick good feats. But NPCs/monsters, other than those that are supposed to be a challenge in a combat encounter, don't always have to be optimal, and in such cases feats that...

Should feats be open or class specific?

Don't forget that PCs aren't the only characters that use them. Many feats may be too weak for a PC, but just right for an NPC.

D&D 5E (2014) Should the "core" world be centered around the classic races?

Only humans should be "Core". Other races should be optional, maybe even in the DMG instead of the PHB. There should be no fluff in "Core" books (or at least only a bare minimum, or maybe limit it only to the DMG for the new DMs to learn how to make a game), just rules. Fluff should be reserved...

Should feats be open or class specific?

Or they could refer to different, but very similar class abilities. For example 3.X's Bardic Knowledge and Lore.

Should feats be open or class specific?

Generally open. Class specific feats are called class features. Instead of class specific I would make them class feature specific, which would make them available to more classes.

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

No, what it actually can mean is that even when the enemy dodges or parries, the fighter is so skilled with his weapon that he still manages to adjust his grip or swing to always at least graze his opponent ever so slightly. I don't care about 5ed rules, so I don't know if the rest of your post...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

Some people can't even take a joke. It's sad. OTOH, it's funny how you focus only on two words in my post, completely ignoring the rest of it.

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

That's the thing, tho. There's really no immersion problems whatsoever. It's just lack of imagination, plain and simple. Or maybe this "immersion problem" is just a veil for some other problem, I don't know. And having your game being ruined by one small thing is a personal problem that's so...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

Isn't it interesting that the poll was created by an opponent of this ability and there are no options like "I think it's not believable, but it's a nice option, so keep it", or "I think it's believable, but I don't like the mechanic, so scrap it"? And why just "scrap it"? Why not "scrap...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

I call em how I see em. I'd rather use "petty semantics" than use non-issues as arguments. I agree, I was wrong when I said "No, not really", but it's such a small thing that I might as well be right. And it really is a small thing. No normal person is going to have a problem with something...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

Considering that you're against the ability and it's your argument, not someone else's, it's clear that it pisses in your cornflakes as well, thus it upsets you, because I don't know what other definition of "pissing in your cornflakes" there is. And no "it's close enough to being angry" BS...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

Well, firstly, I didn't say you said you're "angry", so that's a strawman. Secondly, let me refresh your memory: If the last post doesn't mean you get upset (not angry, upset) because other players are using something you don't like, then what exactly does it mean? Re: Relentlessness It can...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

Just like with Rage, GWF can be refluffed as anything you want, including training or skill.

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

I wouldn't. No offense to anyone that feels so strong about this one ability that they won't even try 5ed, but personally I'm not a person that takes his toys and goes home angry because I didn't like one thing about a game. And unlike Imaro, I don't get upset when other people like something I...

    Why would I?
  17. ImperatorK

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

I know what the problem of the opponents of this ability is - it's simply spite. They don't like the ability, but even though they personally don't have to use it (either in their games or on their characters), they can't stand if someone else will use it, even though that would have no (or...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

Then ask your DM to not include it? *shrug* The idea to remove other peoples options because you don't like them is just so stupid, IMO. I don't go demanding that they remove vegetarian food from their menu at my local restaurant. I just order something else or don't eat there at all (if for...

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

No, not really. You can simply not use that option that you don't like because you're not forced to use it.

    D&D 5E (2014) "Damage on a miss" poll.

So instead of not playing/using the thing you don't like, you prefer to piss in other peoples cornflakes. That's not a very reasonable attitude.
